My wife's dad has an SHO, with all the fixin's (leather, sunroof, power everything...) and I keep trying to get it from him.... He won't take my car and some $$ for trade, nor will he get rid of it for straight $$
Do any of you peepz remember reading about a Ford V-8 that was fitted into a Volvo station wagon? This was about 6-8 years ago, some guy was putting the Mustang 5.0 into these old Volvo station wagons... So 2,500 for the car and a couple thousand for the engine. I sorta wished I had that...
I recalled seeing someone drop the engine from a former 8 second Mustang (body got seriously messed up in an accident but engine remained intact) into a now low 7/high 6 second Probe (Converted to RWD too)
Delusions of Grandeur? With an accent? Buddy... listen to what you are saying... first of all...
1) the accent has a POS 4 cylinder... there is no way the engine bay can fit a small block... let alone a big block V8....
2) this would kill the weight distribution in the car and the accent... mind you... is not a very structurally rigid car... it won't be able to handle the added pressure of a few hundred pounds bolted onto the chassis
3) yeah, you would need a new drivetrain all together, not just a new engine
4) unless you were willing to do this all yourself, and sounding from your level if expertise.. you probably won't.. the labor of this kind of a job is crazy... it costs my friend $5k just to change his auto tranny to a stick shift... and that is only a part of the drivetrain
5) your best bet would be to get a used Civic... and put a supercharger or turbos or some other after market products on it... if you are worried about price.... otherwise... why else would you want an accent?
I've seen one of those 1st model Civic's do it before, the engine litterally was sitting 3/4 out of the hood and the firewall was moved back.... looks like WAY too much work, might as well buy a rail.
I have seen a Ford Pinto on all Ford day with a 302 in it tho thing MOVED!!!
