Once I realized you meant an eating implement and not cuddling... it was all downhill from there. With only a spoon it took a long time to dig my way out
And I thought I've a had health problems with the long battle with autoimmune diseases! Nothing like HR. Every day of life is a wonder.I'm glad that life is on the up swing for you HR!
Well... Interesting. I think I mentioned years ago I had a heart attack. That progressed to the point where my cardiologist said, in essence, to go home and get comfortable, it wouldn't be too long. My wife wasn't having any of it, and we saw the other cardiologist who said to get to the hospital NOW. So we went, and I was immediately admitted. I was in ICU for 8 months, had multiple strokes, and developed a stage 4 sacral pressure wound where one could see the bones of my coccyx that caused pain as one can imagine. Then I aspirated and burned my lungs so bad I was put on a machine that bypassed my lungs, and I was in a coma for three weeks. Being in bed for so long, my esophagus remodeled, so I can never eat anything again. I have a permanent G-tube and am fed three times a day with a nutritional liquid supplement. I went from 230 to 110 lbs. That's part of it, the major bits.
Today I'm 163 lbs and have something called an LVAD which does most of the work of the left ventricle. I can walk a couple hundred yards, and for anything longer, I have this nifty mobility scooter. I can even drive! In fact, I'm leaving the Rochester NY area for the Catskills and my wife will be the passenger. Not bad considering.
I just want to say this isn't a pity party inducer but a brief summary of what's been happening to clear up any questions at once.
So how's things with you?
Oh, my gall bladder crapped out too. LOL
Over time my throat remodeled so my epiglottis doesn't close properly and anything I eat or drink winds up in my lungs. I can however take a dump with the best of them LOLOMG I missed all of that, holy shit, 8 months in an ICU and a coma
I had no idea, glad you're ok HR. That is some weight loss. Strokes are some of the most horrible things that can happen to you, and that was just part of your fun times.
You can never eat anything again? That GI paralysis thing? Holy hell man, I'm glad you're ok but I am so mad for you right now I can't believe it.
Hope you guys have a great trip, watch out for the leafers.
My wife gives me water with my liquid meals and I can use crushed ice to slake my thirst. I can easily cough up the water later as it helps remove mucous. Yeah that's gross. How do I deal with it? I listen to music or watch something. It's just something I have to do and get used to.Glad you're still with us HR. And that you can crap like a moose.
How do you handle water? Is it just like same container pack as the food, but water? You don't have to take fluids through a separate port do you? *cringe*
