Get your heads out of your ass, they are that hyped because they've been winning for that long, they played an extremely good game against another very good team, don't cry.
That still doesn't change the fact they'd get stomped by the powerhouses of the 90s. Which the media so conveniently said would end in wins for USC.
How the fvck do you know? Are you some kind of football scholar? Do you really know that much more about football than anyone else in the world that you can run a simulation of those two teams against each other and know the outcome so easily that you can say with confidence one team would 'stomp' the other? Does your simulation take into account weather conditions, home field advantage, injuries, bad calls amongst many other variables that can go into games. Seriously, how the fvck do you know?
Great Defense versus a Great Offense usually ends in the Defensive victory. Add to the fact that a lot of the powerhouse teams in the 90s had above average to very good offenses, and you see what I'm saying.
Sure, USC would put up good games against the 90s powerhouse, maybe even beat a few. But in the polls, and the opinion of the media, USC would've soundly beaten the best teams of the 90s. Which is ABSOLUTELY false.
While I don't agree that USC would have easily beaten all of the 90's teams, I certainly cannot say with any amount of confidence that those 90's powerhouses would beat USC either. My point is this: No matter how much you know about football, I find it very difficult to believe that you can compare to teams from two different time periods that never played against common opponenets, and say with any amount of confidence that one team would beat another. Times change, players match up differently with each other. And as the saying goes "...On Any Given Sunday...". There is always a certain degree of 'luck' that goes into a game. Its interesting to think about, but I find it annoying that people actually defend one team or another so adamently.
