That still doesn't change the fact they'd get stomped by the powerhouses of the 90s. Which the media so conveniently said would end in wins for USC.

How the fvck do you know? Are you some kind of football scholar? Do you really know that much more about football than anyone else in the world that you can run a simulation of those two teams against each other and know the outcome so easily that you can say with confidence one team would 'stomp' the other? Does your simulation take into account weather conditions, home field advantage, injuries, bad calls amongst many other variables that can go into games. Seriously, how the fvck do you know?

Great Defense versus a Great Offense usually ends in the Defensive victory. Add to the fact that a lot of the powerhouse teams in the 90s had above average to very good offenses, and you see what I'm saying.

Sure, USC would put up good games against the 90s powerhouse, maybe even beat a few. But in the polls, and the opinion of the media, USC would've soundly beaten the best teams of the 90s. Which is ABSOLUTELY false.

While I don't agree that USC would have easily beaten all of the 90's teams, I certainly cannot say with any amount of confidence that those 90's powerhouses would beat USC either. My point is this: No matter how much you know about football, I find it very difficult to believe that you can compare to teams from two different time periods that never played against common opponenets, and say with any amount of confidence that one team would beat another. Times change, players match up differently with each other. And as the saying goes "...On Any Given Sunday...". There is always a certain degree of 'luck' that goes into a game. Its interesting to think about, but I find it annoying that people actually defend one team or another so adamently.

We watched 2 different games then, because USC sucked tonight.

Too bad those guys couldn't beat the Washington Huskies.

I would take the NFL stacked talent of Miami. You're a Husky fan so you have bias, I'm not a Miami fan & I think they're the best of all time. And according to the ESPN Sportsnation Fan balloting, the Miami team was the only team that beat the 05 USC team.

I'm gonna ask you to do a favor. Go compare the number of scholarships in Div 1A today compared to the number of scholarships 10-15 years ago. Now do a little bit of thinking. There you go, I knew you'd get it.

Also another HUGE factor that most people don't take into account.

3 deep at each position is plenty

You're a fvcking retard. USC lost by three points to the best team in the country. I hardly define that as sucking. Now if they lost 49-0 maybe you could say they sucked, but until 19 seconds to go in the game they almost won. It was a very close, exciting game.

And you are an idiot.

1959 Syracuse Orangemen. There's a reason why they were considered the greatest defensive team ever AND in that year their second string was considered the second best "team" in the country.

Thats any argument Ive heard time and again that holds no water. Think of something originally and stop arguing with things you've heard through the grapevine.

Come on admit it, none of us REALLY know that one team would easily beat another. Although, I do agree that Miami roster certainly looks stacked

From what I saw, Texas did a great job, and I was so surprised they didn't win by a larger margin. Didn't you see the look on the Trojan fans? The look of disappointment? Did you hear the commentaters? "Pass complete, he was wiiide open." I mean, they did terrible. I just can't understand why it was so close.

Why? It was already proven on the field. Marques Tuiasosopo picked apart that defense and Ken Dorsey, Clinton Portis, and Santana Moss couldn't handle Washington's defense led by Larry Tripplett, Marquis Cooper, Ben Mohdavi, Anthony Vonture (who died before he could play in the NFL), Hakim Akbar, and Curtis Williams (who got paralyzed and also died while at UW).

Yea that's not true at all. How many USC plays were like that too?? Hell, I'd go as far as to say USC players played just as well if not better, it was a lot of bonehead coaching decisions that cost them the game.

It was a very good game by clearly the best two teams in the nation, both deserving the hype they got. To say USC is horribly overrated and played a bad game is ignorant.

Ok I'm really goin to bed this time.

They are both very high powered offense. Thats why you saw a lot of wide open passes. But keep in mind, USC has just as many yards as UT, and ran over the UT defense just as much. Maybe you didn't notice it as much cause it wasn't all coming from one player. White/Leinart/Bush/Random big ass TE/couple good WRs. They all had very solid games.

USC is a deeper team. Without Leinart they are still good. Without Bush they would be fine. Without White they could score. Take out a WR or a TE and they are still solid. UT however, I doubt they are even close to as good without Young.

Not saying UT doesn't deserve credit, cause they certainly do. But you have to admit that UT is much more of a one man team, than just a team. Where as USC is a great 'team' as oppose to just one player.

Great game either way though, and Im glad Texas won!

They lost 34-29 in the second week of the season. It was a tough loss especially Miami losing 21-3 at halftime, Washington was better that day but I truly believe Miami was a better team & would've won more if say they played 6 games against each other.

But that's the beauty of college football. You have to play and you have to play right now and give it your all. The dumb thing about it was later in the Season Miami was ranked ahead of Washington with both teams having one loss and Miami's one loss coming to Washington.....figure that one out.

There you go. A real complete team, both offense and defense. It's all about intimidation. The fear of the Hurricanes.

Take it easy guys, it's a matter of preference and opinions. No 4 letter words please.

Yeah, that was a great team. And USC team last year better than this years, as too many defensive players left. I'm not so sure that this UT team can be considered one of the all time greats, as this game was pretty much a toss up. It was one of those last team with the ball wins kinda game. I don't consider 19 seconds enough to qualify USC as having the ball last.

I don't think last years USC team can beat the 01 Hurricanes if Magahee is healthy. Would be a great game tho.

I miss those great players to give hope and fight for my Saturdays off. I don't care for weekends off any more.
