However the general populus kept the freaks outside of "the circle" yet today the "freaks" are imbraced and at sometimes we are given more credit for following our animalistic urges rather than showing some restraint.

You are obviously missing the point.

No one is arguing that there weren't freaks as you put it in any time of the world, but societal standards have changed dramatically in the past few decades. Compared to the 50's, more people have pre-marital sex, are more open about their activities, and culture has been more open to talk about sex.. like in movies.

You'd be silly to think otherwise.
