Its a nice song but like a few posters above, I find it amateurish, clichéd and kinda immature - almost like some college kid wrote it for his girlfriend going to a college far away. For something that could have been written by thousands of wannabe acoustic guitar players trying to pick up chicks in dorms all across America, I find its popularity and excessive airplay amusing.

edit: and after reading about how it was actually written to try and pick up a chick, I'm laughing.

If you watch the video its a big shocker she didnt come running...

Maybe if you took a shower once a year and didnt dress like you just walked out of your trailer to pick up your welfare check... Delilah would be dating you and i wouldnt have to hear this song on the radio every 9 minutes.

I do believe it's just a song, my friend. A hopeful, potentially unrealistic song. It doesn't have to be true and it doesn't even have to be about himself. It could just be a song. Because it was about a girl he knew years before the song was written. He didn't write it for her at the time he first met her and such.

believe it or not I have never ever heard this song before. I wasnt even aware of it until i went to ultimate guitar and checked out their top tabs and this was number one by far.
