I may be a hopeless romantic, but I really like the video and the story the song tells.

You mean the story about how the guy is a broke loser? Despite his incessant whining, Delilah is probably getting it hard and often from a non-loser.
no, that he says he's going to make a living off his guitar and wouldn't you know.. he is.

IRL, Delilah is some fan he said he'd write a song for, not his real gf.

oh yeah, make no bones about it, the song is about a real girl that was WAYYYYY out of his league.

the sweet part is the song backfired big time. she was only ultra creeped-out by it and weirded out by the obsession of a guy she hardly knew.

edit: eh mosh, i didn't think it was a fan, but an unobtainable peice of ass. i could have heard wrong though

But it will probably sell because people are stupid.

shhhhh, go to your happy place.

the song has done well. although it got too much airtime for awhile and that ruins any song.

Good tune, good voice, but the lyrics don't appeal to me.

:music:
Hey there Delilah here's to you,
This one's for you,...
:music:

The guy makes a whole song that rhymes and then puts "you" back to back.. why would he do that? That's bad lyrics... really bad lyrics. With a soft song like this where you are forced to pay more attention to the words of a song you would think he'd be a little more elaborate.

I can't believe that anyone, even little kids in Kenya, could not have heard that song before. If you are in the same state as a radio tower, you have likely heard the song. It's everywhere. That song is to radio what TNT is to TV. They play that song, and then immediately afterwards, in case you missed the first 10 seconds or had to go to the bathroom in the middle, they play it again. It drives me crazy. It's everywhere. On every station, no matter the format.

My hatred for that song has only recently been superseded by the aural holocaust that is Death Cab for Cutie.

"Love of mine, someday you will die...."

Oh yeah. Real fuckin romantic you emo tard.

Death Cab and good are two mutually exclusive phrases. They are not anything that could ever be construed as good. Whiny? Check. Trendy? Check. Catchy? Possibly. The song has a good tune, until he starts singing. Then millions of unsuspecting commuters suffer an aneurysm, causing traffic on the 405, which ruins my day even more.

I'm annoyed that just reading this thread title on the main ATOT page got the song stuck in my head. Rrrg. I don't like this song, and barely know any of it.

Theme song for that emo board?

Sorry mosh, but it's just terrible. Maybe not as bad as the typical top 40 pap, but just really bad.

I could name a dozen ballads that have done more than made the girl swoon. Doubt any of them have ever gotten much airplay, but they are timeless and pretty much guaranty... success.

Poor guy doesn't know how many dudes she is screwing in NYC. Anybody who has ever studied abroad knows what I'm talking about. bwahahaha

But seriously the song is too whiny.. then again it never had a chance because I paused "Tombstone Blues" by Dylan to listen to it.

Death Cab is awesome. Obviously you have only heard their latest CD. There is actually a song about the 405 on one of their older CD's.

And trendy? Give me a break, they have been around since 1997, so if you would consider trendsetting as trendy, then yes I guess they are.
