My ASUS reports 68/154, is that too high?
700e@933-1.65v
no lockups or anything, just wondering if that is keeping me from going higher
it pisses me off that it won't do a gig

(I may be off a little on the 68, but 154 is right)

I think that something is wrong with your hardware monitoring system or your heatsink is not sitting flush on your cpu. To run a 700E at 933mhz with only 1.65 volts is outstanding. Most 700's require more voltage, and subsuquently generate more heat, than yours. Given that you have a very good chip, your max temp should be more in the 45C range. Check that heatsink and make sure it is seated properly, it would be a shame to cook such a nice chip.

It also depends on what you do. My 650 oc/ed to 866 heats up to about 60C when I do processor intensive stuff, but usually stays in the 40C range. If you can run like 3dMark and log your temperatures, it'll give you a better idea of what the average temperature of your cpu will be.

your temp seems to be a tad on the high side... granted i have a very noisy and super air-cooled sysem, my 550 runs at 850 staying around the low to mid 30's...

you didn't mention much about your set-up, but make sure you have at least an intake and an exhaust fan to keep good airflow... and i assume you have already invested in a good HSF so your limiting factor may be ambient temp and general airflow... keeping the case cool is just as important as keeping the chip cool!

Hi I have run my piii700e@945..135 fsb with Golden orb (at 1.65v)and under full 3d load max temp is 46C(on slotket and I wonder if my temp off PC Alert III are correct..case heat and chip do not seem this high)

no load 39-40C

So I agree with Nessism

i'm not sure what bios version or asus probe version you're using.. but i'm using bios v1003.. and i just recently updated the probe to 2.12.05 and i noticed the temperature readings were about 10c higher than normal.. though this seems more realistic.. i'm getting about 50c when doing seti. i ordered some artic silver, i hope that helps!

That seems way to hot.I would touch the cpu h/s.If its so hot it feels like it could burn your hand, you have a h/s cpu issue. If it seems cool,or normal, then you have an incorrect reading for your thermal hardware/software.
