Hi does anyone know numbers to the "credit protection" firms?

Hi, what I mean is that its the firms that say they can help you protect your credit by freezing your current debit accounts without affecting your credit. I was called back then but I no longer have the number on hand when I somewhat need it now. Does anyone know of any website or a number I can call? Thanks alot, I'd really appreciate it.

Uhh... how do they do that? Why not just call the credit provider and have them freeze your account if necessary? Why use a 3rd-party?

You can do that? Oh lol sorry I didn't know that, I'm just really bad with debt right now. How long can you freeze it for?

I imagine it would depend on your credit provider/bank. Call them up and see.
What exactly are you trying to do? "Freezing" in credit terms usually means preventing any further draws against a line of credit (i.e. you couldn't make a purchase with a card anymore). Are you trying to make it so you can skip a couple of months of payments? Unless your bank gives you the leeway, there is no way out of that. Don't believe those Ameridebt or Consumer Credit Counseling (or similar) places. They are scams and will hose your credit.
