Seems my raspberry bare root plants have failed.
I was super excited until Sunday when a brown/black spot started spreading on the leaves. Appears to be classic root rot. Picture isn’t my plants but mine look identical to this
View attachment 47118

So disappointing started off much better than expected took about a week to see growth then it started growing very fast. Even one of the clippings I took off them was showing good growth.

I probably over watered them

They were potted inside currently they are still potted but outside and not near anything important. Going to give them a day or two then toss them.
Bummer man....that sucks. Are you going to try again or are you done with raspberries for a little bit?

Going to try again, Lowes has a plant able raspberry plant. I may get that and immediately plant it.
I was pretty satisfied with the bare root plant form natures-whatever. Listed on amazon, affordable and fast shipping.
We are going away next week so probably won’t make a second attempt until August.

Next time I’ll mix in sand like was advised
I won’t use potting soil because I think it holds too much moisture
I won’t water as much or I should say more frequent smaller amounts of water
Making a mini terrarium with a freezer bag as they advised worked really well. I’ll vent it more next planting

Edit: big disappointment I am not that great about caring for plants, particularly potted plants. These raspberries started off so strong I was really happy about it. Then the brown spots came, growth slowed to non existent, then the brown took over the leaves.

Sounds like you got a plan hopefully it works out better next go around.
Honestly raspberries are a pain in the ass IMO. We have a Fall Gold raspberry that is a three years old now and it's non stop maintenance. If I'm not pruning out the infected canes to prevent fungal infections then I'm spraying it to keep the whitefly and leaf miners at bay.

Constant upkeep on the stupid thing.....we have all kinds of different fruits(apples, pears, cherries, grapes, blackberries, ect) and by far the raspberry requires the most work.

Once I get to that stage my wife & I are a good team. She is great about trimming stuff particularly seasonal or annual trimming. She keeps schedules really well. She is good at inspecting for bugs or odd stuff, she is great at weeding.
Stuff I am good at is figuring out where to put stuff, size and volume for spacing. I am good at watering the vegetable garden and adding various fertilizer or pest protection(s).
She like handling the dirt
I like using the chemicals *we are mostly organic I use the chemical term broadly to encompass anything that gets applied*

Our typical plant chemicals are:
Miracle grow, watering can kind stuff just
works
Preen for weed prevention around the flowers not the vegetables

Bug/pest prevention:
A spray that is mostly hot pepper based with some sort of oil in it. Sticks to the plants and kills vast majority of any bug problem
Another spray that is something like citrus (I think) works like the other but it is more rapid
Soil is usually amended with manure or compost
Occasionally I’ll remove old soil spread it on the grass and add new organic soil.

Long story but as I said we are mostly organic.

I am not familiar with raising animals. But did the calf just pop out of a haystack?
That's how farmers get animals. They grow hay in the fields, put it their hay-mow in the barn, and out pops farm animals on a regular basis.

Everyone knows this.
