Also watch out for windows media players memory settings for recently played files. Nothing is more embarassing than someone trying adjust a setting whilst playing music or watching a video, clicking file in the menu bar, and finding out about your fetish for thai redheads wearing nothing but gloves that way.

Size is mainly dictated by the quality of the media, a single HD movie is larger then everything I downloaded with my 56k modem combined.

Quantity is merely a matter of (your current age-age you hit puberty) * daily acquisition rate.

Yeah but the thing is don't people go through periods where you're like "man f this. I need to grow up" and delete all your porn? I mean people go through these periods with friends phone numbers, girlfriends, drugs, clothes, jobs etc. They also go through it with porn because lets face it, a lot of us have feelings of guilt after watching porn and that guilt does build up over time to where you make a drastic move and reset, but eventually you come back and the cycle repeats.

I don't think 3gb is a ton of porn (and again size and vid quality matters. this guys could have like 5 million 10 sec clips or something or 3Gb worth of pics) but i bet its less than 1 SD from the average amount kept on hand by the average guy because I think normal people from time to time get bored, tired, or frank disgusted with their porn collection and dump it, only to later rebuild it.

Several times actually . I really need to modify my equation to include this...
There is also the nostalgia phases where you don't download new stuff but rediscover the classics in your archives

Good formula, but I've found that as I get older the daily acquisition rate tends to tail off a bit. Maybe use adjusted daily acquisition rate, where adar = (darPUBERTY)(Age you hit puberty)/current age.

Back in the day when I also shared a computer, I would just mark the folder as hidden, turn on 'hide' hidden folders option in Windows Explorer and then bury it somewhere in the 'windows/system' folder. I would then create a shortcut to it in the same folder. The shortcut is necessary so that I can assign keyboard shortcut (CTRL-ALT-P) so that I wouldn't have to navigate to it whenever I'd get in the mood. Too bad getting moody is more difficult now that I'm older.

Move it to a different paritition and set Windows thought disk management tool to not assign letter to it. Change security settings so that only you can even view folder contents, etc.

Here's what I do:

1. Put it all in a folder and name the folder something obscure but memorable (like a password)
2. Put the folder somewhere also memorable. Doesn't really have to be obscure. Ex: C:\Program Files\blahblah
3. Open up the command prompt and type attrib C:\Program Files\blahblah +s +h (Of course, you'd replace the location with whichever you're using)
4. This keeps it pretty well hidden. Using the show hidden files option won't show it either. To get to it (for this example), just navigate to Program Files and then type in your folder name into the address bar. You have to make sure to right click the address bar and delete the history each time though
5. To undo the hidden status, just type the same thing into the command prompt except use -s and -h.

I assumed the OP was the father trying to prevent little timmy from accidently stumbling on something they shouldn't see.
But "dad will delete any encrypted file I make" suggests otherwise... in fact it suggests he is probably a minor which in turn means it is actually a felony to assist him in acquiring pornography. AFAIK its not illegal for HIM to acquire it, its just illegal for an adult to assist in any way.

As such I am bowing out of this thread.

Normal healthy males have sex drives, are stimulated predominantly thru visual means and thus have interests in looking at female bodies.

If there is any weirdness, it is denial that the above exists or that the statement isnt true. Further, this topic comes up or is commonly discussed on Dr Drew Pinsky's daily radio talk show titled "Love Line".

A good friend had asked me to implement a strategy for him to be able to conveniently cloak his digital stash.
