and if so...will it count since about half of the games will have been played in Japan? I say it would count, as injuries are just as common over there

If he gets close, Ripkin will pull a WWII and drop the bomb on him.

Is that offensive?

they won't count his japan games, it'd be like counting his japan homeruns for a career total.

I don't think it will happen. And they wont count his Jap games.
These days, the latter is generally considered much more offensive than the former.

didn't they count Warren Moon's CFL stats in his overall numbers? IIRC, they did...

It won't count, but the media will bring it to our attention and there would be some talk about it on the radio and ESPN.

first of all, ripkens was an MLB record, not a world record. maybe they would make a world record for him. second, he still has like 5.5 more years to go before he breaks it. this is like talking about jimmy rollins breaking 56 when he is only at 30

Not the same organization. Just like not counting that Ichiro had played pro baseball in Japan for years. They called him a rookie and let a mid career ball player take rookie of the year.

They won't count his games in Japan.

didn't ripken pass the world record a few hundred games later, held by some japanese guy, except that time nobody cared?

Looks like a moot point now. He injured his wrist in the first inning today and came out of the game. It didn't look very good, I doubt he would play tomorrow. I guess we'll find out.

If its not an MLB record...MLB isn't going to recognize it, hello. Either case, looks like its history anyways.
