High Blood Pressue

Hi new member here..I walk an hr a day. Gym 5 times a week. 150 jumping jacks, 75 crunches, and plank for 6min daily. 1500cal with no more than 1500mg sodium, no more than 25g sat fat. And no more than 40g carbs. And blood pressure still 170/100. I have had hbp but got it under control with 1500cal and only 20min of walking. My question is why won't it lower with increased level of activity this go around?

You might prone to high pressure due to genetics. Does your family have a history of this? While excise and a diet low in sodium does help, unfortunately in many case medicine is required. Have you seen a doctor about this?

You may want to go easy on the caffeine as well.

Yes it is in our family. I drink at least 4 liters of water a day. And if i have diet soda i make sure its caff free..what im not understanding is that i was In normal range a yr ago with less physical activity. Could it be a year made that much of a diff? I am 30yrs of age. Going to doc monday to get it checked

Well a few years ago I found out I had very high blood pressure when my therapist's nurse to my vitals and she made my case manager take me to the ER. Both of them were deeply afraid that I was going to have a heart attack.

Are you having serve headaches and feeling really tired all the time? I was having those warning signs. If so, go see the your doctor as soon as possible. You might end going to the ER before your doctor.

Did you or your doctor check with 2 different blood pressure meters (in case one is giving you an inaccurate reading? Are you under more stress this year? Do you drink alcohol?

Yeah my readings were always high at my regular doctor until they put on a bigger arm loop. They did that and now the readings are mostly normal.

I had readings of 170/105 at one point and I'm not overweight. My last reading was 110/70 which is the lowest I've had in a decade. The only difference is I lost a bit more weight and am doing weights.

There doesn't seem to be a magic pill for anyone, everyone is different. Also don't eat black licorice.

There are many causes of high blood pressure that are not just "I'm out of shape." BPs that high could fall into that category. Go see a competent doctor. Also, as someone said, don't eat licorice.

Buy a cuff and monitor. Mabe get on a ace inhibitor, Dr. Eff 170 and hereditary B.S. 30 years of fluctuations can put you in a wheel chair and someone else wiping your ass. Don't be stupid and hurt your life.

I recommend to monitor your blood pressure, because the situation that you describe sounds odd for me. Maybe your body isn't ready for 5 times per week at gym. I would consult a specialist: doctor, personal trainer etc.
