Hello. I have 4790K with stock cooler. During Black Ops 3 my cpu temps are 90-100c. I think i mounted good cooler.
Is this normal for stock cooler or not? Black Ops 3 only giving that high temps.

Cpu is on turbo clock 4 ghz - 4,2 ghz. And on 4,2 ghz i have 90c+ sometimes it will spike to 100c during each places in game.

It shouldn't be normal. At least, the stock cooler should be capable of keeping the cpu from hitting 80c at it's stock speed. You could try re-mounting it, though you'd need to clean off the old thermal compound and add some new stuff.

Is the case recieving sufficient airflow? Working fan(s) on both front and back set at a high enough speed.

My case is Cooler Master Centurion 590. Paste is stock applied.
Clocks of cpu is 4 - 4,2 ghz. And temps during Black Ops 3 are 90-100c depending on scene. I think i mounted cooler good. I dont know what to do now.

I would try reapplying the paste. Shouldn't be that hot without overclocking on the stock cooler.

In Prime 95 my temps are 95-100C. On other games temps are 80-90C.
Black Ops 3 giving me from 85-100C ( depending on load ). Is this normal for stock cooler temps?

When you run Prime with 4+ threads. Does it reach over 4 Ghz at any time? If so, start by disable auto overclocking in BIOS.

That stupid little cooler craps its pants when placed on a 4790k. I ran mine with the stock cooler for like a week until my H110 arrived and was getting the same results. Change the cooler, it's not meant for that kind of load. Or at least undervolt and underclock a bit.

it's normal. Try lowering stock voltage, to like 1.150 or whatever can run stable, that can drop 5-10c @stock

It's normal. 4790K is a hot little beast of a CPU.

Mine would obliterate a CM212+ with ease.

Playing Crysis 3 and Black Ops 3 giving me 90c-100C. But playing Dying Light temps are 77-81C max. < weird >
Anyway, last question.

Is this safe to play with 90-100C?

Yes, it just throttles at 100C. You could run it at 100C 24/7 for year after year. Its also covered by warranty.

Did you peel the protective tape off the cooler before mounting it?

.Anyway i will buy in next week new aftermarket cooler.
I want to buy this:

http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=productview&products_id=63&lng=en

Noctua NH-U12S

This will be good?

My mobo is Sabertooth Z97 Mark 2

It keeps my 8350 rather cool. Just double check it fits in your case and mobo.

Edit:
OP, you might look at this thread over on vidcards:
http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2453718

Looks like BO3 is a system memory hog among other problems. Crashing systems with 16gb of ram, using up all vid card memory, hitting cpu's hard too.

So, I wouldn't mess with your stock cooler's paste etc.. I'd favor getting a new cooler eventually though.

Somebody said to me:" Heatsink not properly mounted" or your heatsink is not properly secured.

I dont know what to think now. So its something wrong or that are normal temps for stock cooler?

Crysis 3, Black Ops 3 giving me 90-100C. But Dying Light giving me 77C.

Dying Light is most likely bound by your GPU, and/or your cpu isn't being given much to work on.

Because dying light doesn't scale to all threads, so maybe giving 2 cores 100% rest 10%, whereas crysis and black ops 3 scales very well and uses all the threads it can to 100%

Some people report that gaming on the 4790k heats it up to around 90C so if you are in a hot climate it could be higher. The clips on the stock heatsink are a problem for some people which is why it was suggested.
I wouldn't run the cpu continuously at 100C, that just doesn't make sense.

I really don't think that the 4790K is designed to run at 100C. I mean, it might "run", as in "throttle to save its life", but it's not designed to run at 100C as a normal operating temperature.

That should bring your temps down ~30°C from your current temps, although don't be surprised if you need to add another 120mm fan or two, to the two that came with your case.

Indeed, the 4790k should not be run 24/7 at 100°C. Anyone who suggests this is ok is very confused.

The Noctua U12S is a fantastic cooler, it will tame the 4790k very well.
