I would say it's less likely they don't understand what you're saying and more likely they don't care. If you came to me about background processes using 2% of the CPU, I'd tell you I'd look at it when I can, then promptly forget about it. Especially if you're unwilling to close down the unnecessary applications. It's a quad core computer running a CPU intensive task with 250 other processes. Not worth my time to look at. Requisition a more suitable computer.
