<< sounds kinda funny that all you have to do is "point it at a monitor". I guess it could work though. Just seems odd. =/

I have a DataLink and you really do point it at the flashing lines on the monitor and the data downloads into your watch. It is the coolest thing...people just can't believe that it works like that! Very high geek factor.

I see that someone above is having problems with using his DataLink with Windows XP. I'm going to upgrade to XP soon. Can anyone elaborate on the XP problem? I'd hate to lose my downloading capability.

Hey guys ! I have been looking for a particular watch for a long time, but haven't found where it is sold yet. It looks like a regular analog watch, but the glass covering the dial is actually an LCD display. When you press a button, the digits are shown in that glass ... as if floating.

Anyone knows who sells this type of watch ?

My dad bought a cheap timex a long time ago for like $15, it lasted for 10 years. They are the best watches for the price. Who wants to spend $200 on a watch when the Timex lasts longer and costs under $20?

Double thanks. Picked up the Grey Chrono for $25 shipped, even though I just bought a Timex Intenet Messenger Watch.

I just ordered a Timex since the watch band store is having trouble getting the pins back into my 10 year old (approx) Casio Twin-Graph. I'll use this Timex until I get my Casio fixed and whenever I need the Indiglo feature. Also, I 've been ordering from Campmor for years - mainly camping equipment for backpacking trips. I've also been to their B&M store near the George Washington bridge in Jersey. Campmor rocks.

<< Anyone have experience with their Timex's Data Link watches Link

Are they useful with storing appointments?
>>

I used one for a few years, it was ok. But a handheld or pcs phone with a calender is much better if you ask me.
Very limited display on it. The new Timex's with the pager built in is cool if you ask me

<< I have the Timex Ironman Triathalon that you linked to, and I really like it. Its very convienent to stick a few phone numbers and addresses into it. You can store numbers and along the bottom a small text area scrolls, at least on mine (a year or two old) so storing lots of text wouldn't work very well. I find it a very good watch, easy to read, and lots of alarms and chronos. >>

I have the Ironman Datalink too. Be VERY careful when changing the battery. I changed mine in a car a few months after buying it (~1998) and got into trouble. This watch has a tiny spring sitting in a hole that "connects" the sound chip to the metal backing. When I changed the battery in a car, I lost the spring and lost sound for about a year until I took it to a mall repair shop and some guy told me about the spring and replaced it! Wow, a spring controls the sound! Whodathunk it....

Good watch, though my Kyocera Smartphone has replaced its phone number capabilities.

This is my favorite Timex It has a motion activated indiglo, 100 lap chrono which will give you averages of completed laps. 5 alarms which can be set for anyday of the year. a memo mode.... (kinda useless can only fit around 7 characters on a screen). The general setup of the watch seems a bit nicer then the previous Timex's i've had. and its kind of interesting when you pop in a new battery, it gives you the version # of the software on the watch and the developers.

I'm just curious - is this an informed comment on the quality of Timex, or just a knee-jerk, conditioned-by-competitors-advertising reaction? Have you even owned a Timex watch made in, say, the last decade?

I ask because I'm checking my timex I bought last Nov against my computer clock reset daily against an internet timeserver and I see it is off by 3 seconds. Mind you I have never reset it since buying it, and I'm not sure I had it precisely set even then. It's reliable, it looks good, it has all thefeatures I wanted (analog, date display, thick real leather band, waterproof to 50 meters, indiglo -- a fantastic feature! -- and an alarm that I can set in 3 seconds without squinting by twisting an outer band and pulling a pin, and can be set for either just the minute hand or the hour+minute hand (invaluabe for setting timeouts for the kids or when I'm cooking and need a second timer). all for $16. my wife's timex and mother's are equally reliable AFAIK. FYI the watch it replaced was a Seiko so don't tell me I don't know the competition.

I guess my point is 1) maybe you like to pay more for brand name+less features, but not all of us do, and 2) what on earth were you contributing to the deal post anyway, other than dissing it to show off you have a "status" watch"?

p.s. it's not an exact match, but this is very close to the one I have (the main diff being I don't have that black band around the face, on mine it's white). Needless to say, the $16 I paid is looking even better.

Oh come on Mark. That's like calling a Honda "high-end" or "luxerious". By no means is it high-end, but of course it will get you to work fine, will last you a while and comes with cup holders . It is not a Mercedes though. From dictionary.com .... "high-end: Appealing to sophisticated and discerning customers: books targeted to the high-end consumer"

I had to jump on this deal I have been without a watch for about 2 months now and it is killing me, I am always late everywhere I go.
This replaces a Relic blue that pretty much looks the same as this watch, hopefully this one is better quality, becaue the relic was a POS, the pin in the watch was always breaking which is how I ended up eventually losing it?

Do Timex watches hold up very well, I have never ouwned one before??

I ordered the Timex Chronograph Blue.

<< High end timex" is an oxymoron. >>

Intestingly enough, my 6 yr-old Timex 100M "Tele-pad 30" is really a Casio inside. I got it back then for $25; it's extra features are storage for 30 phone numbers and 5 alarms.
