High end video card prices

I was wondering if anyone knew when prices for the current highend cards is supposed to start falling? Its been how many months since the 6800 ultra was released and its still $500+...

i guess until the next generation comes out. right now every card except for the flagship (6800U and x800xt) can be found for under MSRP.

For example...the 9800 XT's are still selling near the price they debuted at I believe. I agree with hugo, it will be until the next-gen cards come out that you will see any significant changes. That is when there will be a significant decrease in the demand for those high-end cards. Right now, say if everybody stopped dropping half a g for those high-end cards, then ATI and nVidia would have to lower the prices, but that would never happen...

Well right now I have a 9800 Pro and would like to get the best thing out there right now but $500 is just insane. The most I ever spent for a video card was $300 and that was for my GF3. I thought perhaps about getting a x800 Pro or 6800 GT but I find the prices to still be high compared to how long they have been out....

Maybe as we get closer to xmas...

most X800 XTs at gameve.com are pretty cheap...
i think a couple under 500 and a couple right on

Get that eVGA Limited Edition on newegg, $325 for a failed Ultra card with slightly lower clock speeds.
