I'll get the politics outta the way first. I know some people in the world feel working hard for years and years and all that BS = $$ (let's leave job satisfaction out for now). I'm not one of those people. Most of these jobs are not necessarily for those who lack eduation; they simply don't require years of schooling to enter. Usually higher paying jobs require specialization, willingness to do something disagreeable/risky. High risk of course = higher rewards tho.
My brother is looking for something new to do after being a mechanic for ~ 10 years. With a mortgage in NorCal, wife, and 2 kids, he's not going to be able to survive on $2.5k/month. I'll start...
* entertainment -> this is a broad range and altho my brother does not have the skills/knowledge/willingness to start such a business entity, I think a adult webcam/porn site of some sort would generate a nice income.
* real estate/mortgage/business oppertunities -> have you guys heard the one about how a patient needed a brain transplant and had a choice of three brains; the first one of a doctor with a price tag of 99 cents, the second of a lawyer @ 4 bucks, and the third, that of a realtor priced @ $30,000. the patient asks the surgeon, why is the realtor's brain so expensive, surgeon: " simple, it's been barely used" :laugh:. requirements include a license, common sense, confidence/self-starter & other traits needed for sales. I've been in the mortgage brokering biz for over 1.5 years and have seen a lot of $ being made. Being a 100% commission ased salary (at least at most firms) avg. salary varies, but I've seen 18 y/o pulling $10k+ EASY working part-time, I've seen full-time veterans taking home a fraction of that, newbies who have *great* sales abilities banking $20k+/month & going from cold caller to opening their own branch < a year in the biz.
* account executive for a wholesale mortgage lender -> you don't need any experience in the mortgage/finance field, but it is highly recomended (or sales exp). for those that don't know, it's similar to a sales rep position. you have a team which underwrites loans that have been originated from realtors/loan officers/etc. it requires traveling to offices, explaining/selling products. income varies since it's mostly commission based; from my experience i'd say within a couple months it should be ~ $15k given you have the skills/knowledge for this position. (One of the AE's I use for sub-prime loans has an annual salary well into the 7 figure range, but he's been doin it for ~ 5 years and underwrites a large volume)
* life insurance -> sales similar to RE, except less $
* stock/secuties salesperson -> this will prolly take some time to go from cold caller -> licence -> strong clientele base, but the possibility is there
* laser hair removal/skin consultant -> 1 of my sisters friends works @ a laser hair removal establishment in the mall (the one where someone outside is trying to lure you in) anyways, she's getting $60/hour (been doin it for almost a year). works 30-35 hours/week. requires licensing/certification/1 year of skool
* police officer -> they do well depending on the city they are employed in
* drug dealer
* car sales -> requires very specific skills/traits, but if you posses them, $5k/month shouldn't be too hard. requires a lot of hours
* Union Iron worker -> ???
* Tattoo artist
* pizza delivery -> given ideal location $4k/month with tips is doable if you put in 50 hours/week.
* tow truck driver -> requires some exp & capital to buy a flat bed. My cousin did this for quite a while and was avg ~$8k/month, but hours suck.
* Casino Dealer -> $6k+/month with tips
* Construction
* those guys that work for PG&E who go around reading meters or even lineman (requirements) make decent income. i think the meter guys start off at $15/hour, but let's say you're given a route that is supposed to take 8 hours, you do it in 6, get paid for 8 and go home early or take on another route bringing monthly income to ~$3k-$3.5k
