I have an IBM 60gxp drive, and am now hearing a really high pitch low volume squeel coming out of the system.

I can't identify where it's coming from. I just added a new radeon 9500 pro and I was wondering if it was the fan on the card -- however, the noise only starts happening when there is mouse movement or any activity on the system.

Is this a warning sign of failure to come? Or a perhaps a fan somewhere?

Really hard to determine the precise source of the sound.

It seems to be coming from my enermax whisper 365 psu.... very light but noticeable. Any thoughts on this?

You know what I have the same problem! I'm using the Enermax 431W and it makes this same intermittent low-volume high-pitch buzzing/ringing/squeeling noise that you're experiencing. At first I thought it was coming from my Lite-On drives or my motherboard but upon further inspection I noticed it was definitely coming from the power supply. And like you said, it happens practically whenever you move the mouse. Curiously, though, the noise stops whenever I drag the IE browser scrollbar down or move the mouse to certain parts of the screen; but then it comes right back on as soon as I move the mouse again. A weird problem, and bothersome too because I can hear it loud and clear through my earphones.

I'm going to email Enermax Tech Support to see if they know what the problem might be. Hopefully this isn't a typical problem that Enermax power supplies have.

Feedback from current Enermax users would be appreciated. I'll be reporting back in here so stay tuned.

I had the same problem with an Enlight PSU. Oddly it only occurred when scrolling the mouse wheel or using the Pg Up/Down keys. Anyway I replaced it with a Sparkle PSU and haven't had the problem since.
