I'm running a palomino 1600+ on an Abit NF7-S nforce2 motherboard w/ Crucial PC2100 ram. The voltage for the ram is apparently supposed to be 2.6v. However, with one 256MB dimm installed my bios and motherboard monitor both read the ram voltage as 2.74v. When I had two 256MB dimms installed running in dual channel mode, the voltage read as 2.96v. With the two dimms installed my system locked up once, then beeped with further attemped boot ups. I later discovered my system runs fine with just the first dimm installed(still the ram voltage reads as 2.74), and the 2nd dimm is fried or something cuz when I install that dimm in the first slot with no other ram the system just gives me beeps immediately upon boot up.
1. Did the 2nd dimm likely get fried by too high voltage?
2. Why is the ram voltage at 2.74v(1 dimm) and 2.96v(2 dimms) when I have it set to be at 2.6v, the default value?
My power supply is an Antec SmartPower 350W.
