The point of this thread was those persons who were socially and academically superior to me in H.S. ended up below me afterwards!!!!!

"Below" by whose standards? Yours?
Newsflash: They don't' care what you think, nor do you actually KNOW where they are in their life.

Actually, the point doesn't seem to only be pointing out where they ended up but deriding them as well. It's the latter that is unnecessary and reveals how bitter you are about your high school experience.

OP, you say you be high and they be low where they was high and you was low but can you authentically lindy hop because that is where this thread is going. Lindy hopping with drugged up rabbits is just over the next ridge.

How do you know? Solar panels are hugely incentivized right now so there's money to be made. It's possible he's an independent contractor setting his own hours/rates and coming away with a nice amount of small business write offs.

People flock to this country by the millions have control over their lives and run their own businesses. That's more than a cube monkey or disposable middle manager can say.

It's also quite possible that job is VERY low stress and gives him the flexibility to see his kids more often and to know that when he's done with a job at the end of the day he doesn't have to think about it anymore. I wouldn't mind those benefits.

It's understandable. People treat you like shit and make your life miserable, I think many would get some secret enjoyment(or not so secret) out of them doing not so well/losing their looks.

Or when he does get called, it's at $80 an hour instead of "Suck it up, you're on salary bitch!" that us corporate suckers signed on for for call and after hours stuff.

And could be a sense of accomplishment of working with your hands, being outdoors. I could have had a cushy IT desk job, but at the end of the day, i've clicked the mouse button a few thousand times and sat on my butt all day. Now I do a little of everything.

Nothing makes me happier than being in my shop with a pile of lumber seeing what my imagination can do.

I try not to look down on anyone's job. We all serve a roll, and I sure as hell don't want to take out the garbage.

I'm sure some of these folks are more happy, adding more value and giving more back to society than you. So no, they are not below you. You should seek some counseling on your poor self-esteem issues.

I've gone back to my last high school reunions and had a great time catching up with old friends and people I didn't really talk to in high school. The smart folks became doctors, lawyers, CEO's or entrepreneurs. Other's are making great money and happy as plumbers, electricians and police officers.

A former basketball/baseball teammate was a recruiter for a company that I was interested in. I sent him my resume, got an interview the next week and job offer the following week.

High School was a great time, maybe b/c I was a jock that loved playing sports and friends with almost everyone. It was great to hear how the parent's of some of my hs friends were doing b/c they treated me so well back then. With it being a small world, later on I would learn that the mother of a classmate was the person who had knitted a scarf for me for last year's Boston Marathon.

I could understand those motivations when I was younger but I would never grow if my goal were finding validation through the perceived troubles of others.

A lot of people stall out before they reach that fourth row of the pyramid. Hell, a lot of people stall out before that.

Considering a 3.5 ~= B+ yeah, that is crap. High school was a fucking joke and a half for me and I have no idea how it actually qualifies people to live in the real world, unless you take mainly all AP courses and plan to go into engineer/sciences/health fields.

Also, a true nerd would have a 4.0, hands down, no questions.

Agreed. Hell I got a 3.9 and never had a chance. Our valedictorian had a 4.8 and got a perfect ACT score but it also sounds like my class has done a bit better than his overall so...

Result of thread: OP was unpopular in HS, and now, based on his response in this thread, we can see why.

:awe:

Well I guess good for you at being able to feel better about yourself because people are 'below' you now? To me that seems pretty shallow but whatever floats your boat.

I just went back to hourly and its the greatest goddamn thing in the world.

Before working weekends when needed was just part of the job. Now I get time and a half plus 4 hours of base pay every time I have to work a weekend. Need to upgrade the VMs on Saturday? Hell yeah I'll volunteer!

I went to my 10 year reunion and the hot chick I had a crush on was still hot. Time granted me the ability to see she was pretty dumb though
Went to my 25th and there were a couple that were still decent but most of them looked like hell. The guys too.

I could understand those motivations when I was younger but I would never grow if my goal were finding validation through the perceived troubles of others.
True but were you or any of our other "well adjusted" posters subjected to abuse in H.S. or at home or in relationships, etc? It's pretty easy to be critical of others (not pointing a finger at you) if you haven't been in their shoes. I know I've done it.

I used to watch Cops and laugh at the criminals. My wife, bless her, said something like, "Those are people. They didn't plan on getting hooked on meth. They didn't plan on giving BJs to support their habit. They didn't plan on getting a shit sandwich, every day...."....:$...I think she bitch slapped me.:\

"Below" you? In what way?

Money? HA! There are uneducated, doped-up porn sluts who make more bank than you'll ever see. I guess you're "below" them (figuratively, definitely not literally).

Job? You're a software engineer. You're not curing cancer, saving lives, or solving world hunger. You go to work, code, and receive a pay check. There are a lot of people who DO those things and probably make less than you doing it. I'd certainly call their jobs more valuable than yours (and definitely mine).

EDIT: Just saw your "income." You're also double-dipping on your job -- we all remember that thread, I'm sure. Nothing to brag about - any of us could do the same, but we have this little thing called integrity.

That's a sweet gig. My buddy is a salaried sysadmin and when he's got work on the weekends, even if it's an hour of work, he's not sure when that one hour will be so it essentially ruins any plans he and his wife might make. No extra pay.

Yeah, I should mention, I'm a consultant paid on an hourly basis after being salaried my entire career. I'll take hourly any day of the week.

Need those SharePoint updates installed Saturday? No problem, 4 hours, minimum!

You want to roll this application to production next weekend? No problem, 12 hours minimum!
