We went ot the mattress firm and tried out the tempur pedics there and my wife loved the cloud luxe (of course). I went online, found themattressunderground.com and looked at what they had to say. She found this one online at overstock and ordered it and it came in yesterday. We slept on it last night. It was fine. I'm hoping to really get a chance to relax in it tonight and sleep in a bit tomorrow morning and see how I like it.

I found the Tempur Pedic too hot even from 5 minutes in a cool store. We have a Sealy Optimum. It has some sort of cooling gel infused into it. Must work well since I stay relatively cool and Tempur Pedic recently started marketing something similar.

We've also had a couple of Sleep Number beds. My opinion is still mixed on those. The one I bought originally (twin) felt great. The more expensive queen size my wife and I bought wasn't nearly as comfy for some reason. We never did figure that one out.

The new Tempurpedics have a new case design with better ventilation. We actually had an opportunity to buy an older model for 20% off when they were moving them out. We still opted for a traditional inner spring mattress...but then got a gel-topped Serta iComfort Genius. It fees similar to the tempurpedic mattress, but a little cooler...I feel like I can't get up in the morning though. You sink down in it.

I don't like the TempurPedic, I don't care so much for SleepNumber either except their bedding.

My parent's and brother have probably mid-5 figures of Sleep Number beds in their homes.

Your family owns $50,000 worth of mattresses?

Hell yes on Tempur pedic or anything that is close to it. I bought my mom a memory foam mattress from Costco as a Christmas present a few years ago. She loves it.

Another vote for 100% latex. Heavy and expensive, but won't break down.

Company I bought mine from (been in business over 100 years) does a 10 year 100% warranty on theirs, and prorated for another 10 after the first decade.

My cousin owns a mattress shop. I wouldn't get one of those but I would get one of the Simmons Worldclass mattresses. They name them a bunch of different stuff but I like their luxury firm ones. They are pricey.

The $400 Costco foam mattress was mentioned with mixed comments, but they have another on sale from $2500 down to $2000. Any info?

I've heard manufacturers use a lot of names to let the retailers offer 'price matching' but not really have to match prices, since it's not the same name.

I don't sleep any better or worse on my $1000 mattress than I did on my $500 one.

I came very close to dropping $6K on a TempurPedic and I am glad I did not. I did some digging on the ins and outs of its warranty along with long-term user reviews and something just seemed fishy. In the meantime, I have slept on a few as a guest and I found them to be too hot as I predicted they would be. (I sleep quite hot.) I have also run into a few more traditional brands since that I felt were much better.

Nicest bed I have ever slept on was a McRoskey Airflex (Made in San Francisco).
