High temps?

I just finished a new build a few days ago and my temps seem a little high. My idle temps are: CPU 38C, Chipset 52-57C. I am not sure if this is normal or not? I was under the impresion that the A64's are cooler then P4s but these temps are much higher then my old P4. Under load the temps get even higher of course. Are these normal temps? and if not is there anything I can do to lower them?

I was in the same boat as you. I also have the DFI SLI-DR board with high chipset temps. One thing you can do (if you haven't already) is to move your video card to the other pci-e slot so that it isn't directly over the Northbridge chip fan.

Also, I took an 80mm fan and put in in my drive bay and aimed it directly on the Northbridge chip and dropped my chipset temps by about 9C under load. It made a big difference.

I'll Try that next time I get the chance. Are my CPU temps ok? I am wondering if maybe I didnt apply the thermal compound correctly or does that even matter? Thanks for the suggestion

Hmmm well I tried moving the video card to the second PCIe slot. However it is working only at 2x is there anyway to make it 16x again?

Temps are fine. Perfectly fine. If you are worried about them, just replace your case fans with some better performing units.

The case currently has two 120mm in it one in the front and one in the back. I can also put a 92mm in the top but I havent yet. What fans would you recomend? Thanks

Your chipset temps look a bit high, try putting some active cooling (fan) near it.

Chipset is a little warm. Are you runnign AMD cool 'n quiet. It makes a big diff to temps, but automatically runs games at full speed, so it doesn't impact on performance.

You also have to remember that depending where you are getting your readings from, they probably are wrong.

My "temp monitor" shows my chipset a 70C. Now I agree it is warm (since it is passively cooled), but it is no where near 70C. I have a 92mm fan blowing right accross it from the front and a 120mm fan in back for exhaust.

I have had zero lockups or problems.

What brand of fans do you have in there now? Are they the stock ones?

Here is a review of your case. Review

I have the original Gaming Bomb. Mine comes with a 92mm fan in front standard, and a slot for the 120mm in back.

I went with these fans:

120mm

92mm

I went with fans that moved a little less air (120mm moves 60 CFM @ 24 dBA ) and the 92mm moves up to 48 CFM @ dBA because I wanted to not hear the fans that much.

With you able to get two 120mm fans and one 92mm fan, and if you can tolerate a little more noise, you could get something like these.

They give you almost 80 CFM @ 30 dBA.

I myself have an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe with a Zalman NB47J passive heatsink cooling my northbridge chip along with a 120mm intake fan that spins at 3100RPM but rarely touches the heatsink due to the hard drive cage as well as a Panaflo 2750RPM 120mm fan for exhaust. I have had NOT one single problem thus far and it's been about a month maybe month and a half since I've had this heatsink installed.
