highest capacity hd with asus p3v4x?

Hi,
I plan to upgrade my harddrive. What is the highest capacity harddrive that I can
use with the mobo asus p3v4x? 80GB? 120GB? 160Gb? 200GB? 250GB?
Do I need extra controler for this new type of harddrive (PATA-100, PATA-133) or are they backward
compatible? I believe the mobo supports PATA-33, PATA-66.

Im guessing 128 GB. <edit> Oups, brainfart </edit>
It's new enough to handle >32 GB, but I doubt it can handle 48bit LBA.

The maximum this board can handle is 128GB.

PATA100 and PATA133 drives are backwards compatible with ATA66 controllers, so it is not necessary to purchase a PCI IDE Controller card

Well, if you really want ATA-100, yes, but you won't gain any speed by doing that.
Even todays high end ATA disks don't really benefit just yet, they can burst above 66 MB/Sec, but not sustain those kinds of speeds.

So unless you need a disk larger than 120 GB, don't bother.

I just put the 1006 beta 4 BIOS on my P3V4X and installed a 160GB HD. It shows at the boot screen as 8GB, but Server 2K3 sees all 160GB. Not sure what will happen. I thought it was the BIOS that put the size cap on. Will try to stop by to let u know what happens when I install Red Hat on the other 80GB.
