It is a bit of a.... wild accusation to publicly make though. How would you respond? And ignoring it probably won't be an option given the amount of media attention and who's mouth it came from.

Now see, you can try vainly to paint demonstrable evidence as crazy because it doesn't fit your needs but let's examine...

Was Stein and is Gabbard being actively promoted by Russian social media bots? Yes. Demonstrably so.
Has Gabbard been promoted in a coordinated fashion by all the main cults of personality in the Alt-Right including David Duke? Yes.

As much as you need it to be, the question is no longer "has this happened?" It demonstrably has happened.

The question now is: "Why is it happening and who knows why?"

That's it.

And it stands to reason neither Stein nor Gabbard knew directly WHY or WHO was promoting them. They only noticed a rise in online popularity... and for Gabbard, a huge and WEIRD endorsement by the alt-right even though her entire platform outside of isolationism is at odds with them.

Those groomed for illegal and manipulative purposes are never instructed on why they're being groomed.

She said she isn't, but If she changes her mind and runs third party, there's no stopping it. But Hillary just might have made her a lot more popular - certainly more visible.

The biggest leg of the stool is anti-Hillary sentiment. In 2016 it was a big factor in boosting Republican turnout and depressing Democrat turnout. She doesn't even have to run in 2020 - as long as she keeps running her mouth, she's a gift that keeps on giving for Gabbard and the Republicans.

And it has been payback Hell ever since."
