Ugh... opening can of worms.
There 's a reason why dc was created as not a state in the 1st place.
Just give the dc representative a vote that counts.
Seems to me Hillary wants to add another state that overwhelmingly leans Democrat.
Wasn't it like Obama won 91% of the votes from there?

Exactly. It would be like giving the city of Boston 2 senators.
They should just make residential and non govt buildings part of MD. So MD gets another house rep that can vote.
As a state, they'd have 2 senators & ~10 HOR members based on population.
I think you need to check that figure on HOR representation. DC is between Vermont and Alaska in population. Indiana has roughly 10x the population of Vermont and has 9 reps.

Liberals will do anything to win the White House, including handing out equal representation like god damn candy.
Do the reasons for the founding fathers not to make the area around the capital an independent state still hold true?

DC has an area of 61.05 square miles.
Texas has a land area of 268,581 square miles.
If DC is allowed to become a state, and receive two senators, then I propose Texas be broken up into 4,399 "DC" sized states and receive 8,798 senators.
What's fair is fair.

Maryland doesn't want it backRetrocede the parts of the city outside the federal buildings back to Maryland the way that Arlington was to Virginia. Problem solved.
The same argument could be made of Rhode Island not being a state as well then.
That's a non-sequiterDo you really want the federal government beholden to state laws?
