Exactly. It would be like giving the city of Boston 2 senators.

They should just make residential and non govt buildings part of MD. So MD gets another house rep that can vote.

I think you need to check that figure on HOR representation. DC is between Vermont and Alaska in population. Indiana has roughly 10x the population of Vermont and has 9 reps.

You're acting like this was some evil plot dreamed up by Republicans a few years ago rather than something written into the Constitution. When the solution is already there and has been implemented successfully before (the Arlington retrocession as I stated earlier) there's no reason to keep things as-is. That being said I don't support statehood for DC as no other city has that arrangement and I think allowing our urban areas to become a confederation of city-states like Singapore or Hong Kong is a bad idea.

No. After reading the article, the operation of government has already been interrupted and insulted by a particular party.

If DC is allowed to become a state, and receive two senators, then I propose Texas be broken up into 4,399 "DC" sized states and receive 8,798 senators.

Alaska will win it all with 663,300 square miles. Thats 10,864 "DC" sized states, 21,728 senators. Thats pretty good for a state with a population with less than 100,000 more people than DC
