Examples please of said "Trance DJ's?" (I can't wait to hear this.) I haven't said anything, because EVERY genre has bad/annoying DJ's. But to make a stupid statement like this...you should have some good evidence to back it up.

I hate Hip-Hop, but think that there are probably good DJ's in the scene.

Then I remembered it's 'DJ CLUB NIGHT' on 92 Q. Every week they have a different DJ and all those fvckers do is make the CD skip and yell over the song.

No mixing beats, no Run DMC style turntable, are these guys using a program off Download.com? /vent.

Wouldn't dragging it across concrete be an improvement over any 25 cent song?

Trance DJ's are not bad, I listen to them all the time. Today I was listening to Tiesto in Disneyland,Paris, great mix.

Old Paul Oakenfold mixes are good too, such as the one from Miami, Havana,Cuba and others.

Sander Kleinenberg is getting up there with some classic mixes such as the one from WMC last year, he did a great mix for Renaissance Everybody and Everybody Too, he does have great E-Mixes on BBC Radio 1.

Unkle is good too, but it gets a little old because Unkle uses a lot of their own stuff.

Ferry Corsten, Armin Van Buuren, and Dave Seaman have great mixes also.

You can get most of the Emixes at www.freshlymixed.com for $2.50 for bandwidth usage through paypal.

The above mentioned site is not mine. But I do use it to get old mixes.

Thats what we call an on-air personality, they're not really djs, theyre just people who play songs and talk all over them.

A real dj beatmixes in addition to scratching and actualy making music sound better.

you just admitted you were bumping a 50 cent song which kind of makes your use of the word "hop hop" already null and void.

I prefer when they bust in with their gravly voices yelling "PUT YO HANDZ UP! PUT YO HANDZ UP! PUT YO PUT YO HANDZ UP!"

That's the best.

hah. if you've been listening to trance for more than 2 years I'll accept your opinion, if you've been listening for less than HAHAHAHHAA.

Have you guys even heard of an "innovative mix" from any of the above mentioned dj's? It's always the same sht, wait until last 16 beats, mix into first 16 beats of next track. Yeah yeah yeah, they gotta know their material etc etc etc.

When they were just making it up they actually had to do stuff like that. They actually SPUN. Now people like PVD are bringing laptops to the clubs and using that for everything, what a freaking joke!~

Trance dj's are NOT innovative. Unless you're from Britain, I probably listened to more electronica than you'll ever know.

These dj's are fvcking pitiful. They haven't done ANYTHING innovative in YEARS - they're just banking on this "new" American trance scene. OMG I CAN MIX A 4/4 SONG INTO ANOTHER 4/4 SONG @ 140BPM, I AM L33T.

And this is on CD. Some of their cd's are respectable, relative to when they were released. But live, HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHAHH
HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAAH. OH MY GOD, trance dj's throw down the WORST LIVE SHOW EVER. EVER. EVER. And I won't even take your arguments into consideration here, because I've seen more trance dj's than you'll ever know.

Real electronia - BT (when he's not spinning), chemical brothers, crystal method, Underworld. Live PA's are great.

Real dj's? I'll respect some jungle dj's, but their music is so weird I can't listen to it anymore. House dj's > trance dj's. Well, the good ones anyway. People like Mark Farina, that's where talent is. He does sht that no other dj does, he's just so way above his peers.

Hip hop dj's are for the most part untalented, but there's a few of them out there. When you throw in scratching and stuff into the mix, the possibilities are endless.

Oh if you wanted names....Tiesto, PVD, Oakenfold, Jules, Tong, Sasha, Digweed, Corsten OMFG especially Corsten, christopher lawrence, anybody that's ever come out with a global underground cd...

I've been listening to trance for at least 4-5 years now. Been into Electonic music overall for longer than that. I constantly download new live sets, read the music sites, go to dj/producer sites, so I'd take my opinion a little seriously. I'm a true music enthusiast for this genre. I'm a big Ferry Corsten/Armin Van Buuren fan. (Met and got a picture/autograph from Corsten.)

I don't think it's the DJ's job to be "innovative", that's the musician's/producers job. All those names you mentioned above, yeah, I've heard 'em all.

The DJ's play the tunes that people want to hear, and that will get them dancing. How are they supposed to be "innovative"?!?! Granted, Oakenfold in his days was amazing, but he has changed. Even at the peak of his performance years, I wouldn't classify him as "innovative", just "really damn good."

And you're "Anyone that's ever come out with a Global Underground CD" comment.....right, you've heard them all? And you think they are all worthy of critical praise? Maybe you're just another "I'm more underground than you" elitist snob.

Listen to what you like, but don't make stupid statements like this without backing it up.

Are there Trance Dj's that suck? I'm sure there are, plenty of them. But to make a blanket statement like that to cover an entire genre....pure stupidity.

EDIT: And to the best of my ability, BT never 'spins'. He uses his Laptop and some very high end software to produce "Electronic Symphony's" as he calls them. I could be wrong on this.

Jesus Christ guys.... I dont understand the big ass flame wars. Some ppl like trance, others dont. Theres no reason to NAIL your opinions into other people's head, most likely they dont care, and that goes either way. Theres no sense getting into an argument over music, because itll never be solved.....people have different tastes in music...period.

BT used to do a dj set too after his studio got broken into. guess he does this 'electronic symphony now'.

i guess we're at a moot point.

my final say:

I don't think these dj's are going anywhere. With computer technology, and most of these "big name dj's" already using laptops in their sets, soon dj programs will take over. They'll be more perfect than current dj's, and quite frankly will be almost the same thing, seeing as how most trance dj's don't do anything while on stage anyway.

Funny story, I was at an event once, and Sandra Collins was slated to come on. She was completely BLASTED, and had a cd of hers going while she pretended to spin.

And another: (i love this story haha)

Was at Coachella, wanted to see what the hype about PVD was. Ferry Corsten was on before him. That fool would not get off the set when PVD started playing. He just kept stayind there and cheering on the crowd. For like 10 minutes into PVD's set. PVD called security to kick him off the stage haha.

While I'm here and typing...

PVD has a huge freaking ego. While he was spinning, he had his Motorola ad on every screen. On repeat. The whole way through. The only GOOD thing I'll say about PVD is he used to refuse to spin with gogo dancers. Dunno if he still feels the same way...
