The problem that you're going to run into is that none of the secondary ATI overclocking programs work 100% on the X1*** series cards. I would start by unlocking ATI overdrive and see what it takes you up to and what it shows temps as. It won't show fan speeds, it won't scan for artifacts, and it may not let you OC the card to it's full ability. Mine shows a ceiling of 650/720 and my GT will run 648/711 safe and stable. The other prob I have with it is that it will tend to crank the core to 648 and just let the mem sit there at stock sometimes. I use ATItool at times, mainly beta 25 version 15. Each current beta of ATItool has it's own problems, but it will scan for artifacts, may allow testing higher OCs than Overdrive, and shows both the core and the vreg temps. If you turn on 3D view I believe it may also kick in the 3D speeds. The author is working on better versions so we have to have patience. I messed around with tray tools and rivatuner and ended up uninstalling both. I haven't tried the other overclocker program floating around, but I understand it loosens memory timings.
