First of the VQ engines. Was always a fan of the early 4DSC. Nicely done on making such high mileage. I'm guessing you reside somewhere that snow doesn't happen.

Nice. How have maintenance / repairs been over time?
Does everything still work?
Original engine & transmission?

Original engine, but FOUR transmissions. I think I replaced the radiator twice, window pulleys around four times, water pumps twice, etc. Overall, I have to pay 4-5 times the car's value every year to keep her running. It takes an iron-willed determination to maintain that level of financial mismanagement.

The interior is very clean and looks more like a car that's only a few years old, except for the steering wheel. The sun has disintegrated a lot of the top of it.

You may still be able to get a new steering wheel from a dealer.

and still cheaper to drive for six months than a mclaren for a day.

I tried that 2-3 years ago even though it costs more than the entire car is worth. It's sold out nationwide. People just don't make many things for 20+ year old cars.

Why do you need a new steering wheel? You can get a DIY leather steering wheel skin for around ~ $25, or less if you want to go cheap.

wow congrats!...

i dont think i have even driven 2/3rds of that in my entire life, and i have been driving just as long as you have.

Why are you doing this? Hoping Nissan gives you a new car at 1 million?

it just shows how amazing the older engines were compared to the new ones.

There are a lot of older corolla and camrys from Toyota that have also hit that number.

Wow that’s impressive! Does it use oil? Do you use additives for the engine?

Man I thought I had a lot at 210 but I’ll never catch the marker your at.

Awesome. Excellent job keeping it running.

And yeah, replacing a transmission and a few other parts here and there is probably worth it. It's not like newer cars don't need maintenance.

Are you crazy? Four transmission replacements? I would've tossed it after the 2nd one. Four is crazy.

I actually posted my mileage accomplishment to another forum and someone responded that I was a loser since I've been driving the same car for the past 24 years and didn't upgrade cars during that time.

I just use Mobil 1 every 5000 miles like clockwork and I haven't had any problems.

My last vehicle, I retired at like 220K or maybe 229K, something like that. It was a Dodge. It was a beater, and it was cantankerous, but it kept running. Non-interference motor helped a few times, when I a timing belt die out in the field. I just drove it, until something on it broke. I guess I hadn't heard of "maintenance schedules" yet.

Lol haters they’re just jealous of the money you saved.

I’m starting to have oil burning issues on mine. I wish I stuck with Mobil 1 instead of switching synthetics.

For me it doesn’t even make sense to buy anything new or a few years old since I’ll put 25k on it within a year. So it’ll be worthless in 3.

I'd prefer if they lasted longer, but a salvaged tranny for most cars that age is cheap and not too difficult to swap out.

If i don’t replace it, I should hit 200k on my Versa in about a year. It’s just about to hit 194k miles.

Yea, back in the early 90s, the Maxima was an outstanding car. I think the 3rd generation 1989-94 was the one I liked best. Now they are still a very nice car, but the competition has caught up and even surpassed them.

Great that you kept yours going for 400k, but only ave of 100k per trans, sorry, is not really that great.

I just sold my 2008 Prius with 382,000 miles on it. The only thing I had to replace was the hybrid battery at 370,000 miles. I purchased a refurbished battery with an 18 month warranty for $1000. Oh and the 12V battery at around 200K miles. It was still on the original rear brakes, with plenty of pad left.
