Women ask me this in bars.
@madoka: Impressive! Somewhere I have a Nissan factory add-on NIB 10 (6?) disc CD (in trunk) changer that I once snapped up for a friend who then punked out on me. If I can find it, are you interested?
I do 7500 on my 17 year old Tundra with 210K miles on it. I swear that 4.7L V8 will out-last every other part in this truck. Good thing, too, as a rebuilt motor costs $5K and a junk yard motor of this type is $3500.I just use Mobil 1 every 5000 miles like clockwork and I haven't had any problems.
It will - the 2uz is an absolute beast. http://www.trucktrend.com/how-to/project-trucks/1705-million-mile-tundra-the-tear-down/I do 7500 on my 17 year old Tundra with 210K miles on it. Why would you want to?!Wow, that was some read on the engine! But don't go telling my wife that or she will not let me replace the Tundra.
I'm really impressed, 24 years on the same car is incredible. Is it your daily driver?
My general theory on cars is research them like mad, buy new and hold until it runs into the ground. But the longest I've owned one car was 17 years, a '91 Saab 900 until 2008, approximately 260k+ miles. The car was (by my standards) somewhat of lemon-every time it failed it was sudden with no warning, inconvenient and expensive. When I finally got rid of it the main reason was I was sick of it and Saab appeared to be a dying brand with no future (turned out correct). I don't remember the last problem that made me throw in the towel but the repair costs were at least arguably more than the car was worth.
I now have a 2008 Prius, 271K miles running like a top and I'm planning to hold that car as long as possible. Trouble is I need an absolutely reliable car for my work. So far nothing new has persuaded me to jump ship-I'm holding out for my dream all electric car, but I frequently drive 200 miles a day so range anxiety is very real for me.
