Hit by car running red light

I'm in Maryland so PA law doesn't apply. I worked with Erie Ins to get my car sent to a direct repair station which happens to be my regular service place anyway. I gave the release yesterday. It will cost me my 500 dollar deductible plus whatever my insurance increases if it does. My adjuster said in all likelihood it will be a non fault accident for me. I still have not heard from the other person's insurance.

Even if the car is fixed I'm strongly considering trading it in. I don't want to be driving something that I know was in a wreck and have complications down the road. I may get a newer VW Tiguan or one of the BMW X1 models that will start appearing in August.

If your vehicle is newer and the other carrier does accept liability on the loss, be sure to request diminished value. Not all states require it (and I don't have my matrix on me showing which do) but there's a possibility for more cash.

You won't (in all likelihood) receive this coverage first-party, but still a possibility also.

The amount that the vehicle diminished in value when it was involved in the accident (on top of the physical repairs that can be completed.)

Ie. nobody is willing to knowingly pay the same for a vehicle that has been in a wreck as one that hasn't, even if repairs were completed.

Just got a call from the body shop and they say it has 9-10k of body damage. It now has to go to the mechanical shop as it has internal damage as well.

Go to Kelly Blue Book to find out what you vehicle is worth.
If the estimated total of damage exceeds 70% of the value - kiss the vehicle goodbye.

I had the same issue happen to me 2 weeks ago. No witnesses stopped, insurance are fighting it out now. Sh*tty situation to be in :\

Let your fingers do the walking for yards within a 50 miles radius.

No yard is going to come a greater distance unless the vehicle is rare and parts are expensive.

Insurance will give you the market value for the vehicle and take care of junking it.

Or they will deduct the yard value and re-assign the junk title to you and you handle the disposal.

I've called some places and so far the best offer is 7,000. I have a few more places to call though.
