The price should be below $250, unless there is some fancy mumbo jumbo attached to it. In that case you can probably add a $50 more depending on the mumbo/jumbo.

I think this is pretty cool. It's not a great price, no, but if you're looking to run a 1TB machine with a single HDD, which I am, this is great.

I will wait until the prices drop substantially, but still nice to know these have arrived.

A friend of mine told me he saw a hitachi 1tb drive for sale somewhere but this is the first time i saw one with my own eyes. Bingo. I know people who have been waiting feverishly to get their hands on these 1TB monsters, and price isn't a concern. These are the same people who drop $600 for a 32GB SSD disk. Not everyone needs a "hot deal" to buy something.

I'm pretty sure that when these were announced, MSRP was going to be $399.

Speaking of pricing, I just bought a new 6.0MP camera with anti-shake for about $15 less than I paid for the 2GB 150x SD card I put into it (which I had purchased maybe 1.5 years ago).

Yeah, that's why I bought a Maxline 500 for my latest desktop build - the reports I read said that they were nearly as quick as a Raptor in day-to-day use. Half the cost and nearly 4 times the storage, why not?

That Lacie drive is two 500GB drives. They opened it up. Look at the link below. The one they took apart is the same part number as the Newegg part number, 301156U.
