Hitachi 50" 1080i plasma $997

If you have an hhgregg in your area (IN, TN, KY, GA, SC, FL, AL, OH) they have a Hitachi 50" 1080i plasma for $997. Doesn't give the model # but says it has 3 HDMI inputs. Page one of the ad viewable online at hhgregg.com

I don't see it on the site. Says 1000 available chain wide.

I bought the same TV last year when BB put it on sale (PM'd at Sears for an extra $50 off, also that way didn't have to buy from WorstBuy).

Great TV, the stand if you can find one is pretty sleek as well.

Whats up with a 1080i Plasma?

I thought all LCD's and Plasmas displayed a progressive picture. I thought the only HDTV's that displayed 1080i were older CRT based HDTV's.

A 50" for under a grand sounds hot but I'm jsut wondering about the interlaced picture.

It's not interlaced. It's just clever advertising.

Basically its just a bit higher resolution than a 720p TV.

This might be one of the Hitachi's with a resolution of 1024x1080, which is why they claim it's 1080i. They're the oddball of the plasma world, most 50" are 1366x768 or true 1080p (1920x1080). If it's one of the newer ones, it's 1080p.
