Not sure but I know there is a power managment software tool available on the Hitachi site (here it is).


Tool mentions being for Win95/98, I don't know about XP support.

I just wanted to add that this HD is ridiculously fast. I installed in into my wife's laptop last night and the speed boost is incredible. This thing is easily as fast as my WD SE 120GB. The only PITA is I had to install XP fresh. I couldn't get Drive Image or Ghost to move XP to the new drive properly.

Yeah, I put this drive into my aging Latitude C600 and it makes a WORLD of difference. My laptop has become usable again!

you should order it from zipzoomfly.com (link posted up above i think). They have the 60gb 7k60 for $152 w/free fed-ex 2nd day air shipping. I ordered mine from them on friday morning and they shipped it out by the end of the day. I should have it at the beginning of the week (they charged me tax, but I live in the same state as the store, CA, not sure about other states)

What a clusterfvck, I cancelled the order FOUR TIMES! I cancelled by email, phone, website and again by phone when THEY CALLED ME to see if I wanted to wait or cancel because my order would be delayed AGAIN , they finally sent me an email saying my order would be cancelled as I requested and what do I get today? a shipping notification its coming by DHL and is scheduled to be here Friday.

See! thats what I'm talking about, you ordered more than two weeks after I did and got yours already, I did my damndest to cancel, and almost a month later they ship it after telling me it was cancelled sheesh, its like a monkey fvcking a football!

I installed mine last week and i'm very happy with the performance. It's much quicker than the 5400RPM hitachi (40GB, 8MB cache) I used to have. It was an excellent $128 (w/ shipping) purchase.

so i got sick of the wait after they told me it would take till nov 19 to ship, and they found a dell branded one specific for the 5150, well it lists for 310, but they knocked it down for me to 109... ok great... well i got it today, and not only do i get the drive. but the trey and bezel for the 5150 and its a 7k60.... the problem is, the sticker says REFURBISHED....
WTF? a $310 drive is refurbed? but the new one is only $130ish??? well they supposedly shipped the original drive too (the one that was supposed to be canceled, so i may get both) BAH any thoughts on refurbed 7k60 with housing and bezel for 109??

They probably sent it from their parts department since it is specific to the 5150. When I order anything from their parts dept they always have a yellow sticker saying it's a refurb but it's not. Not sure why they do that.

Yeah, I was told by someone in the parts department exactly that. Even though their stuff gets "refurb" put on it, they are not refurbished parts.
