Anyone have a suggestion on how to determine whether a specific notebook could use this drive? I have a Compaq 2199US that uses a 2.5" IDE hard-drive. Are all 2.5" IDE notebook drives standard that I don't have to worry about compatibility? Thanks!

Oh yeah, yours can handle it for sure. Mine is much older than that and it works fine. It's the standard drive dimensions that all drives come in now.
