Hitachi CM772, anyone?

My Hitachi CM769 just died on me, but fortunately, it being a Hitachi monitor all I had to do was call the support line, and they'd come home to me with a new one. Or so they said at the store.... Of course, the on-site warranty was only good for people living in Oslo (which covers about 10% of the Norwegian population....), so they'd mail me a new one instead. However, the CM769, a monitor I've truly fallen in love with, it's great, was no longer available, so they'd send me a CM772. The problem is, I've seen the CM771, and it really sucked. The picture was out of focus, the moire patterns were impossible to get rid of, the list goes on... If I'm not mistaken, the 772 is the "new" 771, featuring the same "flat" screen, which I suspect was the source to the problems with the 771.

So, my question is: have anyone of you tried the CM772? Is it any good? If it is as bad as the 771 i tried, I'll return it the minute it arrives...

I just bought a cm772 and I think its great. Everything seems to be focused quite well. At higher resolutions the focusing isnt that great, but I think that is the fault of my old Voodoo3 2000, and not the monitor. Time will tell tho. If Hitachi is going to give you a 772 as a replacement, why not take it. If you dont like it then sell it?

I tried buying a CM772. First one was really bad, moire which was impossible to completely remove, geometry problem which could not be adjusted completely (sides looked like bananas) and a dark spot in the middle. Replacement was better but definately not what I had expected. Both I also saw something which annoyed me. Most noticeable on for example the standard Windows gray color was something which looked that every other vertical line was white. Like the grey color was instead alternativ white and grey lines. It became more prominent the more to either side I looked and not noticeable in the middle. The second one also had some unadjustable geometry problems (the top left corner sloped downwards).

The first one has already been returned and I am having the second one returned to get my money back and after that I am buying a Samsung monitor from another dealer. Hope you have better luck with the quality of the monitor.
