Am thinking fake.
At their current rate, they need another 6 years for the next episode.
I keep hoping Crytek comes out with something as fun as Half Life 2. Valve needs some incentive to start producing again.

I dont even know what their current project is. Half Life 3? Team Fortress 3? Counterstrike 2?
What?

Am I missing something? All I see if a black book with the lambda on it that says June 14th...

I guess that could be conclusive of HL2:EP3 if you want to stretch....

My mind would be blown if Ep3 was kept secret and then released on June 14th. Or perhaps they just want to announce it on the 14th?

The next HL game needs a brand new engine, the source engine is starting to show its age, both visually and technically.

Lol this is like the woman that only let`s you stick the tip in. If after all this time of nothing and something does get officially announced at E3, there is evidence of a god. If this is fake then I will cry in my sleep again.

I'd prefer seeing the announcement of Half-Life 3, rather than a third episode of three hours of game-play... but I guess it'd still be better than nothing.

Maybe Episode 3 will be long as it's been in development awhile......I think it should wrap up the story....In a sense feel like a Half-Life 3.

Plus I think Valve would rather focus on Multiplayer games as that is the thing these days....

Just sayin....

I don`t care how old the games are I want them to finish the damn story. EP2 was damn awesome.

I certainly agree that Episode Two was awesome... although I never talked about the age of the games or how the story never completed itself. Anyway... I just wanted to say that I'd prefer having a "full game" at the same vanilla Half-Life 2 scale (at least, if not more), rather than another episodic content that wouldn't probably last more than around three or maybe five hours of game-play at most (it took me about four or five hours to beat Episode Two, which by itself was already lengthier than Episode One).

Time will tell.

(1) It says June 14 but no mention of year
(2) It's been so long that I've played HL EP 2, I forgot what it's about

My inner skeptic says that this is fake... partially because it's such a simple graphic that anyone could've done.

That said, I do think the next entry into HL (whether it be HL3 or Episode 3) will be announced at E3. I'm also secretly hoping they do an apple style release where they release the game the day after their conference.

I almost guarantee that the new HL will be even more interconnected with Portal than it was before.

I know, I know... wishful thinking.

Good god no. Gives them more reason to delay even more. If it takes them this long with the same engine imagine how long with a tweaked one.

Maybe the reason why they've taken so long is because they're building it on a new engine?

It's possible.

I don't get what could be taking so long. They came out with L4D, tweaked it a bit. Then they copied it for L4D2 and haven't given any support for L4D2 since they released it. They made TF2 which was just copying 1/3 of TFC and making skins and calling it a game. If no progress has been made on a new engine, HL3, or Episode 3, then I figure Valve is like 5 people.

Is it that time consuming to find bugs in their games, releasing patches of nothing, and spitting out update notes that say they fixed bugs that they didn't fix?

No, its about time they delivered. Gabe talked about it during cs source, then it got sorta implemented in team fortress and an on, but only barely on a second core, never mind more than that.

Its fine to release early on multitplayer, but single player, hell no. If i'm done by the time they fix the bugs in single player missions its ruined.
