HL2:Update

Hate to admit it but I don't think I've ever finished HL2. It wasn't the graphics, and it isn't the length - I have near a thousand hours on Fallout 3/Fallout New vegas, and hundreds on Counterstrike Source & CSGO. I just lose interest somewhere near the end.

Unless . . . Does, um, tragedy strike in HL2, or HL2E1?

EDIT: Hmm, strike that. I have 31 hours in HL2, 5 in HL2 E1, and 9 in HL2 E2, so I guess I did finish it. Evidently I was less than impressed. Certainly wasn't HL1, which I finished multiple times along with all its variants and several mods.

I never finished E2.

I'm still upset that SiN Episodes was canceled.

Seems like only Telltale does episodic content correctly, everybody else sucks at it.

I really had fun on the replay of HL, and will do HL 1 & HL 2 after looking up the best mods for both.

Honestly, I was really disappointed in HL2. It was all action. The thing that drew me into HL1 was the story, the cinematics, the chapters...totally sucked me in for HOURS at a time. HL2 almost felt like Far Cry or something. I mean, I enjoyed it, but I wasn't as attached as say HL1 or Portal 1. Portal 2 kind of had the same thing...the story felt like it was on rails, story for the sake of having a story. I actually enjoyed Portal 2 a lot more my second time through when I wasn't just focused on beating it.

I played through HL2 again in ~August last year and remember thinking that for a 10-year-old game it still looks pretty good.

Was that the mod you could dive, slow mo and basically do matrixish jumps? Played that for a while as well. Was quite fun if I remember correctly.

I replayed ep1 and ep2 today. HL2 was incredible. One of the best parts is how music comes in the just the right times to amp the experience up. The only thing I can't stand is not being able to hold a gun to Alex's head to get her to shut the **** up.

I haven't stayed up all night gaming in a long time. I just stayed up till 7am to finish ep2... I really want HL3.

I just finished HL2 Update and realized I don't own ep1 or 2. I last played them back when They were released on My buddy's PC.

Still a great game and story to this date.

I never had the Ravenholm loading bug though

I admit it took me some time to finally get through Ravenholm, but there still came a point I ended up leaving the game behind yet again and never returned to finish.

hmmm...nice! That could tie me over until GTA V is out.
(I have some of the best memories with HL2 and HL2M, still overall probably the best game I ever played)

The known Cinematic Mod (SOME of you might like it, who knows)...is way too overdone for me especially how he replaced Alyx with some Hoochie model which has nothing to do with Alyx. But THIS mod might be cool.

As for HL3...I honestly don't know whether it will EVER come out respective whether a HL3 was actually ever planned.

I once read somewhere that the EP1/EP2 were actually "HL3" and no HL3 was ever planned. IF, and this is only..*if*...I think the stakes would be VERY high...HL3 would need to offer something which no game currently has...and they probably know how high expectations are. MAYBE there is something to the rumours that there *might* be a VR HL3, sort-of as an introduction with their "Vive" VR headset..as one of the first real "VR games" - but this is just my personal guess and nothing but pure speculation!

Yeah, There is a new version of cinematic mod for the updated half life.
Works real well with 3d vision too

Ravenholm was probably my favorite part. Normally I hate running low on ammo, but with the gravity gun and saw blades . . . Not so much.
