Iirc, Ebay owned them. But I could be wrong about that.
The same as paypal, and ebay pushed them as competition to PayPal. the ebay bought paypal and is doing away with bidpay.
correct?

incorrect. BidPay is owned by Western Union, it's independent of eBay

then why did ebay push their service so hard against paypal at the time?
or is that just my viewpoint?

I don't recall ebay pushing BidPay, but I probably wasn't paying attention to it back then. Regardless:
2. What is the relationship between BidPay and Western Union®?
BidPay and Western Union operate as subsidiaries of First Data Corporation. The money orders purchased through BidPay have always been Western Union branded.

Good by Bidpay and good riddance. It was a scam haven.

Bidpay was great, never a problem with fraud (unlike paypal=fraud heaven). Unfortunately, they had horrendous customer service, and eb*y was at war with them, basically stating in emails that western union should never be trusted. That probably killed them.

This isn't good. Especially since ebay changed their policy recently and sellers can't accept paypal unless they have premier account. So is there nothing like it left besides paypal now? Will banks ever offer electronic transfers to individuals?

Bidpay/Western Union was the preferred method of buyers in Nigeria, why should they be trusted
