Hmm... I get a Porsche on Monday

Heh, I was scheduling service to align my car(curbed a wheel and fvcked up the alignment), plus my compass is on the fritz. They don't have an Audis for loaner cars, so she asked if I would be ok with having to drive a Porsche loaner. I was like hmm... not really a hard question to answer there. It will probably be a Cayenne but might be a Boxster.

I'd drive the Boxster. Cayenne is an ugly a$$ed SUV and it doesn't interest me in the least.

I'm being lazy and not looking this up, but doesn't the Cayenne have better performance numbers than the boxster?

The Cayenne is a SUV, and unless you get the Turbo, it is pretty slow.

The Cayenne is a SUV, and unless you get the Turbo, it is pretty slow.

yeah, but the boxster is ugly as hell. I'd rather drive a miata.

The Boxster is more of a "Porsche" than a Cayenne... i don't know why everyone hates the Boxster. Just because everyone has one doesn't make it any less of a Porsche. If it wasn't for that car... Porsche would have been bankrupt.

Kidding The Boxster is a great drivers car. It drives very well indeed. I test drove one before I bought my TT. However, I would of had a Boxster if I could have afforded one... Just sour grapes. Muhaha...

Porche must have really been hurting for cash to jump on the suv bandwagon and release the cayenne. They should just stick to making cars. That's almost as a bad as having a ferrari or lamborghini suv.

It's still selling. And it's not as though it performs poorly by any stretch of the imagination. Scoff if you like, but the Cayenne is making money and it's not hurting the company's image.

Britney Spears sells and she's a plague to the music industry IMO, I see the Cayenne in the same light and it *is* hurting the company's image, it's just that many of those who are opinionated about the ordeal don't own a Porsche or plan to own one

If it were a crappy SUV I could see people taking issue with it, but it's not. It performs better off road than just about anything else with its level of luxury and comfort, and it performs better on the road than any other SUV, period. It's not like they put a lift kit on a Carrera 4 and left it at that.

It may be comfortable and perform like many other yuppiemobile SUVs, but it's just bad for a pure sports car company to just "cash in" on a trendy market, that's all. It could be the best SUV to hit the market ever, but many people still think that it's an insult to their lineage.
