Hmm is this really ok?

Hmmm when running the distributed.net client and cracking RC5 (for AT-team of course) on my slightly oc/d duron (650 @ 1050 at 1.85 volts) I get temperatures around 65 degrees C. On a abit KT7, super orb. That's a little high is it not for my poor CPU. I better get a peltier and watercooling as fast as possible...

That sounds pretty warm, but that is one heck of an overclocker that you have there!

RC5 will definitely make your CPU run hotter than normal, but I really am not a good judge on whether that is an accptable temp on an AMD proc.

My 910mhz PIII (650@910) only runs around 32 to 34 degrees centigrade when I have RC5 running.

With an Orb (even a Super Orb) your temperatures sound about right. With an Alpha or Taisol heat sink and Arctic Silver, you could probably bring that temperature down into the mid to high 40's...

Well as long as it doesn't start a fire in my comp case, it's no big problem really is it?

If it's perhaps 12 deg C off, which makes it 76 deg C it's close to the cruicial 80C point. Or is that something I dreamed? The 80 deg C limit?

Fardringle is correct. Even a GlobalWin FOP32-1 will give you better temps.

but then again, who really cares what it looks like, if you hardly ever look at it? Being inside the case that is. I would much rather see a very low temperature in my taskbar much more conforting than a nice looking heatsink.

Besides, bring the temp down would lengthen it's lifespan. Possible that you could overclock more!
