hmm question about a Band of Brothers detail **spoilers**

Just watched the 5th episode "Crossroads" and I must have missed something. Cpt. Winters was promoted to Battalion XO after they wiped out the SS companies, and then *** took over Easy Company, right? So why does Winters join the men again and referred to as "Captain" at the end when they move into the woods? Was he demoted?

It's been a long time since I've watched it, but I assume that despite his promotion to XO, his actual rank doesn't change. He still remains a Captain, but in even more of a leadership position.

He was promoted to XO, but was not promoted rank wise. He was still captain. When they assault the town, he does not go with E company, but stays back with the CO and watches the attack. He gave orders to the E company CO over the radio.

By today's standards... the infantry XO is usually a LT. and the CO is a CPT. Wasn't that the case here too... wasn't Winters still an LT when he was the Platoon Leader of Easy?

I need to watch again... getting confused...lol.

I don't think so, in the last couple he's been referred to as "Captain Winters".

No, I really don't remember. I watched it when it originally aired, and haven't seen it since.

As Regiment XO he had to do most of the paper work. The British prisoner rescue operation was not big enough for him to be present. The later assault involved more than just one company, so he was present to watch and command the companies. He did not fight, if you remember, he was stoped by the CO when he tried to run and relieve ***.
