Hmmm... No POST, no beep codes, is my mobo fried?

I recently upgraded my computer, and passed down my older components to my brother. Both of these computers are working fine. Then it occurred to me that I had enough spare parts lying around to build a third computer, the only parts I needed were his old CPU, motherboard, and RAM (all of which were working fine a few days ago).

Today I tried putting things back together and I won't get so much as a beep code out of the motherboard.

All I have right now is a processor (Socket 478 P4), RAM (512 MB PC3200), a video card (ATI 9700 Pro AGP), and a motherboard (Asus P4P800).

The fans are spinning up but I'm not getting anything on screen and I'm not getting any beep codes so I'm kind of perplexed at what the problem could be.

Things I've tried so far with the same result:
- Removed mobo from case and placed on cardboard box
- Reseated RAM
- Removed and reinstalled CPU & heatsink
- Tried with a different PSU
- Tried with a PCI video card
- Moved RAM to a different slot
- Unplugged and replugged Power supply into mobo (both connections)

Any ideas as to what it could be or why I wouldn't be getting beep codes? Keep in mind this whole assembly was working fine a few days ago... Visually the board looks fine, but maybe it got killed by ESD?

Tired a couple of other things without any success:
- Totally bare motherboard without CPU, RAM, or video. Still no beep codes.
- Tested RAM in another rig, was detected normally and worked fine. I'm fairly certain the motherboard is shot.

I'm going to see if I can grab a new one from a local shop tomorrow.

Just curious, did you try contacting Asus? Some companies will help out even with out of warranty products. MSI was very good about helping me on another motherboard issue and the board was over 3 years old.

Just ran into this myself. Try removing all the motherboard mount screws and see if it will start. You may have tightened one too much.
