SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - Police say a Wisconsin woman stripped in front of her children in an attempt to avoid arrest for shoplifting.
The Sheboygan Press reports that Julia E. Laack of Sheboygan was charged Friday with felony battery of a peace officer, resisting an officer, shoplifting and disorderly conduct.
The criminal complaint alleges she shoplifted beef jerky and a lighter Thursday at a store. Police went to her home. The complaint says she stripped to her underwear in front of her children and told officers they couldn't arrest her because she'd be naked.
The complaint says Laack then scuffled with the officers and exposed herself. It also indicates she'd been drinking.
Laack remains in jail Friday night. A man who answered the phone at her home declined comment.
