No its not. That video cost Hogan a LOT of money. That and if the penalty was not large then they would keep doing it as a "cost of business".

No what cost him money and reputation was a completely different video that made him seem racist. Not the 9 second sex tape.

Doesn't matter what this jury awarded. Case is almost 100% going to get a new trial on appeal. The judge made two completely wrong evidentiary rulings that knee capped the defense.

The way I see it a big part of this is going all out on Gawker because they are so utterly convinced they did nothing wrong. And even did some kind of good deed.

If they would have taken the video down when Hogan first told them to they probably wouldn't have been sued at all. Then they in all likelihood refused to settle. And they put forward this ridiculous argument about how the first amendment should protect it because they think it's newsworthy and of public concern. By all appearances Gawker was looking to not just get out of punishment but to set precedent making it easier for them and others to get away with doing this in the future. So yeah I can see why Hogan's prosecution and the jury want to make Gawker lose hard.
