Been a while since the .99 deal came along. There are a bunch of new DVD's I havent had a chance to watch.

Ok... there are like 91.49% of the Hollywood videos that DO NOT participate in the 99 cent rental promotion. Of the ones that do about 65.10% of them only participate on the "99 cent 5 day rental" for their old movies. For the lucky few there are Hollywood videos that are always running the .99 cent promotion on all their DVDs and VHS. They run with "Guarantee In Stock" too.
You just have to look around. For instance, there are 2 Hollywood videos which are about 1.5 miles away from each other. One charges the regular fee ($3.78) while the other charges 99 cents. They target the same audience, they have the same movies, with the same amount of titles. 2 different strategies for making money.

Sooo... is it $.99 to rent? Or what?! I can't figure out what this thread is about exactly.

*Edit: I recall Hollywood Video occasionally has the $.99 rental coupons out. Perhaps that's what this is about. It would be nice to have a link to the actual coupon if that's the case <hint - hint>. My local store honors the $.99 rental coupons, so this deal would be valuable for me...

Not sure if desibaba was referring to the following:

You can actually rent DVDs at your local store for .99 a piece. Games or DVDs. A friend showed me the coupon a couple of days earlier and that's it.

Dun have the coupons with me though. Sorry about tat.

A few months back, someone posted a link to a scanned a 99 cent coupon with a working barcode. It worked when I tried it. Search old posts for the link to see if its still alive.
