Finally! My CC balance is $0.00! God that felt good! I can start putting money away into savings and not pissing it away on paying CC bills.

Now to get the car paid off... :frown:

Good job, I'm in the same boat, except I still have my student loan and my car loan to pay off. One thing I've learned, no more brand new car for me.

Congrats

I am working on this too. Put a bit too much on one and it just needs to go away!

Check your statements carefully next month though! They might sneak a partial month finance charge or something in, and if you miss it, $25 late fee over $3 - or something as patently ridiculous.

Working in the financial industry, I get to hear all sorts of little evil things that happen.

I have a hard time imagining how people can get so far over their heads with credit card debt. I've paid my balance in full every month on every card I've ever had. I use the credit card for convenience only - not to spend money I don't have.

I'll be there in a few weeks. I got impulsive again and payed $438 for a new pair of glasses at the store down the street. The plan was to get a $50 beater pair cause I use contacts half the time... damn it still hurts.

I'm not in CC debt (cause I don't have one), but I see a lot of things that I want...so I buy them...and my money just goes right out the window.

Being a college student...I should probably save that money for when I NEED it. Not because I randomly decide I want a 360 that I never play.

That's usually what they're for. Unless, for some emergency type situation, shit really hits the fan.. I guess you gotta do what you gotta do. Thankfully, I haven't been in this situation.

Same here. I use CC for everything, from gas to lunch to clothes to groceries, etc. But I pay it off at the end of every month. The reason I use CC is for convenience and because I get points. Plus paying it off in full and on time helps keep my credit excellent and shows good history.

I have a few thousand in CC debt. It happens, first it something you need and then you see the convenience of making a payment on something and that turns into buying things you want instead of need. This doesn't apply to everyone but it happened with me.

I am in the process of paying them off though and I think it will relieve a lot of stress when I do.

Congrats to you OP.

Exactly. I've been trying to use mine more and more to build up credit for when I'm out of school and looking at apartments. Which is... too soon.

I wish I could overcome my CC debt. I saw some really nice Diesel jeans while shopping the other day and couldn't leave the store without a few pairs. There goes another few hundred on my bail. At least the bailout is coming, I hope.

We still have plenty of credit card/short term debt, but have started saving weekly anyway.

This thread reminds me, I put stuff on my visa lately since I lost my debit card so used the visa instead. I'll log on to my bank and clear the visa off.

An pregnancy, unexpected medical bills, unexpected vehicle repairs. A smart person will have an emergency fund, but there are some things you just can't plan for.

In my case, I topped out at about 5k in CC debt, plus car note, personal loan, and medical loan. Everything, including most of the CC debt is paid off now, fortunately.

Well for starters my wife could not get enough student loans to cover tuition, board, books, car repairs, etc.

We also used them to finance needed house repairs when we didn't have the funds available.

People like you only make up around 30% of all credit card users. The other 70% carry a balance and never pay in full. The average credit card debt in the US is over $7,000 per person. Considering 30% pay in full every month, that means the people carrying the debt actually has higher balance than that.
