Well here is the story rather pothethic, right now as you might see from my RIGS I have a 1600+ AMD Athlon XP. Well it runs hot along with my two hard drives all inside a Pro Source P.O.S case 3 case fans two more 80mm can be put in (but to noisey)... Along with my Thermaltake Volvano 7+ running at 5000 RPM's. Well its like this I have some money (for a change) and am looking for a way to keep my room from heating up so much when I turn the stupid thing on.what cases might you suggest that have good cooling and releativley inexpensaive. After only 10-20 minutes of me being on the thing my run goes from 77 degress, to 80-89 (i live in florida). Well any suggestion will be greatly appricated thanks in advance.

You can't do anything. This has nothing to do with pc case, in fact, by your room heating up, it it tells you that your case cooling is working well and you're successfully transferring heat from CPU to your case and then from your case to your room. The better cooling you get for your PC, the hotter your room will become. Everyone of us having these very fast AMD chips (which run pretty hot) is experiencing the very same damn thing. All you're doing is transferring cpu heat into your room to keep CPU cool. Well, I guess you could blow a hole in your wall and make something like and exhaust duct for clothes dryer so it blows hot air outside and not into your room.

cheap's right, your rig will always put out the same amount of heat. It's just a matter of whether the heat stays in the case or is expelled. I really only see a few options for you: keep a fan pointing in your general direction at all times, underclock your CPU to decrease the heat it disapates, open a window and point a fan out the window, get a window AC unit, or don't use your computer. I wish we could help you out more. Peace.

i have a cheap evercase (26) and a cheap taisol hsf (15) and one case fan that came with the enermax all cooling a system with an overclocked 1600+ (2100+). dont think it gets hot at all, maybe you should invest in that quality evercase. my cpu temps are 40 idle and 50 under full load, my case temps are 32 idle and i'm not sure underload.

cpu temp != heat output

the only way you will make your room cooler is by removing the heat from your room. the cpu will always put out the same amount of heat, no matter how well it is cooled. perhaps open a window, turn up the a/c, install (as mentioned already) a duct similar to a dryer (would be funny to see that done ), but buying a new case or heatsink will do *nothing*.

Move to Canada!

<-- my cpu temp is 27 C / 82 F right now, with a room temperature of about 20 C. My room is currently about 5 or 6 degrees warmer than the rest of my house!

I love havin a PC in my room now Winter is coming, and my room is on the end of the heating loop for the hot water, so its most of the time 5-10 degrees cooler than anywhere else in the rest of the house, now with my OC'ed AXP, my room will stay nice and comfy all winter long!!

I posted this a while back at Hardforum:

It seems as if he's missing the entire point of having fans. Fans don't change the temperature of the case. They don't cool things. The move air. The concept behind having a lot of fans is that they move the hot air out of the case, thus, cooling it.

Your room is hot because you have so much crap running, and it's not doing anything but moving the same air around in your room. It's like sitting in a car, with the windows up, turning the AC off, but with the fan on, and using the re-circulated air. You may feel kinda cool, but it's really just because there was a momentary gust of air coming past you.

The best way to fix this is to go to the local walmart or kmart or something, buy 2 crappy box fans. (it'll cost you like, 20 bucks, less than buying 2 PC fans.) Open your window, and put one of the fans there, blowing out. Open up the door to your room, and set the other one there, blowing in.

This will expel air from your room, because the fan blowing out the window is forcing air to move in that direction, and because matter is always rushing to fill empty space, the air from the rest of your hosue will rush in, compliments of the fan in front of your door.
That's how a refridgerator works. It does nothing more than blow the hot air out of the box. The few cooling elements in it are set up so that their heat stays outside of the box, and the cooling is done inside. Call me crazy, but mounting your fans on the outside of your case can have some nice effects. *waits for new trend to begin*

A ceiling fan is about as effective as the fans inside your PC. nothing but circulating your air.

You can also do other things, like turn off and unplug anything you aren't using. I turn off my monitor and speakers when I'm not at my PC. I also never turn my light on during the day, unless it's raining and too dark. I unplug my VCR until I go to use it, because even having that little clock blinking at me is generating some heat. You might actually find it more effective to turn your ceiling fan OFF when you aren't in the room.

Just some food... for thought. Actually, a 5 course meal for thought.

Isn't that a tad extreme? You remind me of my dad, except he does it to save electricity.

LOL, you still don't get it..your PC is going to emit the same amount of heat no matter how you cool it, which will heat up your room the same amount. You have to emit the heat from the room..through the window, door, etc.

Ness is right. In the summer it gets hot in my room with 2 computers and its small. I ended up buying 2 window fans cheap at home depo and I have one on one window blowing the other on another windows blowing out the windows. There is not much loss of ac and the fans help keep it cooler due to the circulation from the fans. I would go for 2 window fans. make sure they are double fans together they seem to work the best.

Well, my point wasn't a joke, he really does that! It's annoying as hell, you pick up the remote, pop onto the comfy couch, hit the power button, and nothing happens. I hate having to get back up and walk alllll the way over and plug the TV back in.

Yeah, if anything, his room is going to be HOTTER, since watercooling should work better than air.

The room where I have 4 computers running hit 150 degrees this past summer, of course the room is the attic. All ran with no problems, so much for all the panic over the CPU's being too hot.
