So im rocking SLI 780's and i like shadow play.

Looking to go 1440p 144hz with Gsync.

But WTF is the deal with Gsync? £300 MORE than Free Sync nearly doubles the price of the monitor (Acer 144hz)

2x 980Ti's £550 each... Total cost £1770

AMD

£370 for monitor, approx £4xx for the 390X 8GB.

Total Cost likely about £1200 for 90% estimated performance of the 980Ti SLI.

Other than shadowplay what is there to lose?

Or is this just UK bad nvidia pricing..?

If it offends you that much, the solution is reaaaaaallllllll simple: don't buy Nvidia.

Admins, why is this attempted circle jerk not locked?

I believe the Gsync Acer has ULMB (ultra low motion blur) and the Freesync one doesn't offer a comparable feature. The BenQ XL2730Z is a better comparison feature for feature as it has strobed backlight to reduce motion blur. They've also fixed the OD function on the BenQ. I haven't heard anything about the Acer yet.

With Freesync you get full use of different input types (in case you want to plug an HDMI device into your monitor for instance) as well as full on screen display capability.

And? He was on topic. The OP was comparing the cost of two similar setups one for AMD and one for Nvidia. AMD's equivalent is Fury not 390X.

I don't understand how you can reply to a statement and then get a reply to your response and make a flippant post insinuating that the other poster was off topic.

Firstly if the were then so were you. Secondly they weren't their post was directly related to OP.

:\

You're right, but just trying not to get on the off topic train.
Next, how does he know. How do you know. Where is the data?

If he goes AMD he loses shadowplay and Gsync works below 40Hz.
Question is, are these worth the money to the OP to have these features.
He is also basing his dilemma on unknown performance and price of unreleased GPUs.
He should wait til the AMD cards are released then revisit this thread.

12 days we'll know what Fury is and rest of the line up is; Raptr recording does the same as Shadowplay Keys and you know it....

Both sides have issues

Nice to see some awareness, but really can see why nVidia has a hardware module and goes beyond a standard, where the experience is there for all desktop G-sync monitors, where with FreeSync, it all depends on the hardware from each monitor.

In this thread: people conflate a display sync protocol (FreeSync) with the manufacturer's implementation thereof

Very confusing -- well, this FreeSynxc monitor has this ability but another does not -- the FreeSync experience may differ greatly depending on monitor.

Nvidia doesn't support DSR in SLI though and AMD supports VSR in crossfire.
DSR is a software-based solution while VSR is hardware-based now.
DSR limitation is the unsupported SLI, and the huge amount of gaussian blur, but it will work with every GPU.
VSR limitation is the GPU support, but it will create much sharper image, and support CF.

That's how it is with monitors anyway. Up to the manufacturers to make their implementation better and more affordable. My problem right now with freesync is that they are putting it in expensive monitors, which defeats the purpose imo. Sure nvidias attempt to milk their well managed cattle farm is significantly more expensive, but the tech does not have the wide impact it should if the cost of the actual monitor is prohibitive. AMD should be encouraging them to make them cheaper to take advantage of freesync early.

So OP has 780 SLI which are hardly out dated, already gsync compatable and would power a 1440 monitor for most games (and all games with tweaked settings). Nontheless, OP wants to upgrade to 980ti SLI, but complains of the price.

What a dreadful waste of money, must be Nvidias fault.

Sucks to be you OP.

As if we can assume the benchmark for a 290x will apply the same to Fiji... lol. Pretty obvious tactic here bro

If you mean a tactic to form a convincing argument in order to win a point in a dispute or debate, then yes, excellent tactic.
