I pay $420 for my huge ass room in Cambridge, MA
do you have like 40 roommates? If not i really need to go to your realtor. I'm paying $1300 for a 650sq 1 bedroom apartment.
Probably 40 roommates. Or a lie. Or a dump.

wow, ridiculous prices. I'm paying 680/month for ~1000sq ft single bedroom plus single car garage, in a condo setup. Built just a couple years and in great shape, yet I still feel rent is high.

So I'm getting married at the end of August and we are apt. shopping. We are thinking of moving to the Passaic/Clifton area of NJ because we both work nearby. Rent is crazy! A 2 BR in a decent building is going for $2195 a month. Ridiculous, this is not Manhattan! I guess we'll end up paying that much, but jeez, it's nuts.

That's nuts. Are rents so high because no one is BUYING?
One might say rents are so high because there is more than one person dumb enough out there to take it.

Actually NJ has some of the lowest gas prices in the country. Not that that means the gas is cheap...Originally posted by: MaxDepth
Wow, in NJ it sounds like "finger cuffs" with you between gas prices and rent.

That's crazy talk. I've got a ~1200sq ft, 2 bedroom apt and only pay a little over $800. And it's a REALLY nice apartment too. But I'm in TX. ~$2200 in rent really sucks.

OP.. Send me an email or PM. I just moved from Central NJ to an apartment in Englewood. I'd like to talk to you and share my knowledge from apartment shopping. We looked in plenty of the same places I am sure you are looking at. Clifton/Lyndhurst/Hackensack/etc.
The place we ended up renting is a 2br for $2480 a month, but includes alot of extras and is a great building/location.
Its way more than I expected to originally pay, but I'll explain why we decided on this place.
